Re: Irrational Pet Peeves? List em here!

I am still annoyed that people "wanting to be perfectly clear, will use /s". Sarcasm a Well executed sarcasm won't fall into Poe's law because it is either intentionally ambiguous, or extremely obvious. If someone can't tell that it's sarcasm, they are dumb. Poorly executed sarcasm may be ambiguous...

Re: Irrational Pet Peeves? List em here!

Yeah but everybody knows that if it lands on 0 or 00 then it's highly unlikely for it to land on there again next spin. Isn't that not true? There is just as likely a chance that it lands on those numbers again as any other specific number? Interestingly known as the Gambler's Fallacy It's definite...

Re: Irrational Pet Peeves? List em here!

For some reason, I'm not into Pink Floyd anymore, despite them being my favorite band from 2000-2004 or so. Bothers me because I have no reason why I don't care for them anymore. You sound just like my Dad (except that the 2000-2004 would be a different set of dates). Maybe Pink Floyd is just somet...

Re: One Word Change Challenge

This challenge seems very easy. Lots of super-broken stuff should be simple to find. But here's a couple of ideas I came up with right off the bat that still might be tough to beat: 1. What's the most overpowered SWCCG card if you are allowed to change one word? Ommni Box: Shuffle Deplete any one pl...

Re: Irrational Pet Peeves? List em here!

So hunter knows people who say "Oh yeah, he's looking well out there, bruh. For sure." But not anyone that pronounces SNES "Ess En E Ess"? Yeah. You think the guy who says that first line is going to spell out S.N.E.S. instead of saying "Snez?" In my experience, the people who actually owned the SN...

Re: Irrational Pet Peeves? List em here!

People who repeatedly keep using the word "well" where they should be using "good." I'm not sure when this started, but it just keeps getting worse. Seems like I've noticed it most with Northeast types. People from New York, Philadelphia, etc. Example sentence? "You see Davante Adams out there, tea...

Re: Irrational Pet Peeves? List em here!

I did think of Brian Fred, when I said that bit about hoping that Herold had passed the mantle along to a third Brian. I just wasn't sure if Fred would qualify.
So this news warms my heart.

As the saying goes, "if you're bragging about what you did last week, you've done nothing this week."
Anyone using that saying will never be able to do what the other person did last week.

Re: NBA 2K Series

Yeah it's insane how much more challenging games are now. Much easier when you have two buttons with a NES or 6 with a SNES/Gen. Yes and no. Games have much more complicated controls now. So games are more challenging *to learn* now. But by and large, video games are way, WAY easier *to beat* now. ...

Okay, I'll reiterate that I don't remember hearing anyone ever say "Ay-Tee Ay-Tee"
You don't get out much, do you?
I get out with people who already knew how to pronounce At-At, without needing the video to correct them.
*Yawn, shrug*

Re: Irrational Pet Peeves? List em here!

Oh yes, what rhendon said definitely checks out. Quite an understatement though, wouldn't you say? I've been to 42 of the 50 US States. Been to 36 different states for SWCCG purposes. There was a stretch in the early 2000s where I was going to basically every major event there was. Nobody was loggin...

People that say 'At At' must be the same people that say Snezzz instead of Ess En Ee Ess.
I sure hope so. Then, since I don't spend any time around people who say "Ay-Tee Ay-Tee" I won't ever have to put up with anyone saying "Ess En Ee Ess" either. Why would anyone do that?

Re: Irrational Pet Peeves? List em here!

The debate looks to have been decisively resolved though. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fyukxLcdUWY (Warning: Video has at least 1 naughty word, so would not be SFW for some) You're right, it is. 1981 toys commercials, Lego star wars, and jj Abrams films are all not star wars Canon, so it remains...

People who pronounce AT-AT like the word "at" twice in a row.
...what? What alternate pronunciation is there supposed to be?

I don't remember ever hearing anyone say "Ay-Tee Ay-Tee" but I can't figure out what else you could have in mind, either.
