Re: Get Rid of 3 of these

The movie was titled "Avatar: The Last Airbender" during production. I remember hearing plenty about it and the other Avatar while both were being made, before either was released. The Wikipedia page links to an article about the announcement of the name change, in April of 2010, with the film havin...

Re: Get Rid of 3 of these

How is avatar not in the bottom 3 for everyone? It wasn't even in hunters bottom 4. Do people care about that movie/franchise in the slightest? Well, can't speak for everyone, but...I don't really care about it. I'm not an Avatar fan just like I'm not a Fast & Furious fan, but they're both pretty b...

Re: Get Rid of 3 of these

Would anyone here not choose to lose Fast & Furious? I'm curious if there are some really dedicated F&F fans in this community. In a "get rid of 3" scenario, I'm definitely not choosing to lose Fast & Furious. Not only am I not a "really dedicated fan" I'm not even a fan at all. But it's still not ...

Re: Old Men Yell At Clouds (Formerly: Irrational Pet Peeves)

My Coworker who claims to be a giant Seinfeld fan but has never bothered to watch an episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm. I watched 2 or 3 episodes of it, and then never bothered to watch any more. Is that better or worse? Any nickname that follows the following format: The (City person is from) Kid. O...

I like movies, but almost every movie could be improved by trimming 10-30 minutes.
Except for Judd Apatow, which could be reduced by half.
Lando System?

Re: Fake boxes [long post]

I just opened 4 premiere boxes last night and can say with 100 % certainty that any legit box will have around 15 R1, and none will be worn, although some may be damaged :( This doesn't really make sense that any legit box would have 15 R1, when proportionally, wouldn't it be 12? And if some have 1...

Re: Office decorating

I don't love it, tbh. I think Hero is better if you want to watch the 'same' movie, and Red Cliff is great if you want to watch a silly action movie with subtitles. I also prefer Hero to Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. I found Curse of the Golden Flower to be enjoyable too. I would at least rate CT...

Re: Kessel v makes no sense...

Points taken, Hunter. I recognize that I came across as speaking from a high horse here and now I feel bad about that. My apologies, especially to JediJer, if it was taken that way. My own post was probably worded more harshly than was necessary, for you to see what I was getting at. So for that I ...

12 Years a Slave Black Swan There Will Be Blood The Grand Budapest Hotel Only There Will Be Blood is good. Of those 4, it's the one I would recommend most highly, yes. And of those 4, Grand Budapest Hotel is the only one I would recommend *against* anyone watching. Grand Budapest Hotel is probably ...

Re: Kessel v makes no sense...

Something I see more commonly than I'd hope to see is a person X getting annoyed or upset at something they do not understand, then disingenuously extrapolating that same feeling on to other more general issues without an argument of merit, then the initial issue being explained clearly to them in ...

Also, getting a drain bonus after a location is converted? What kind of madness is that? That's a bad precedent. Maybe I really don't want to play this game anymore. *sigh* https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQFjdHZoJAqcg_nUCV9xqsqgNOFNKsSReIG2w&usqp=CAU Gotta admit though, this i...

Agree with Meto that The Godfather should be a priority, for anyone that has mentioned it here. The other most popular selection appears to be Casablanca...and I couldn't recommend that as highly. I suppose it's something that every movie buff ought to see once, but it isn't something where I can sa...

To answer the OP, I tell myself that I *want to* see Taxi Driver, and The Thin Red Line.

But there is always something I would *rather* watch, so I never seem to get around to them.

Finally watched The Little Mermaid (1989). I had always assumed it was just the crab singing Under The Sea for like 70 minutes and roll credits.
I mean, I'm sure someone has edited together that version somewhere. :???

i had never heard of her. looked up the song brad listed. it's pretty good but agree w hunter she's pretty average looking. After seeing this post, I went ahead and checked on the song too. It's alright. Makes me think of Kylie Minogue. Turns out I do know at least one Dua Lipa song though, cuz "Do...

Re: Old Men Yell At Clouds (Formerly: Irrational Pet Peeves)

I am so VERY proud to say that I don't know what a Dua Lipa is. :) After trying a google image search, I don't get how anyone is calling this person attractive, much less a 10. I'm not really used to disagreeing with shawnd's takes all that often, but I don't even see a solid "7" anywhere in these p...

Re: Covid-19, good news, and how it relates to us & SWCCG

People research and enjoy tons of information that isn't really all that useful for them. If the goal, was just to provide information, no problem. More information is almost always better than less. But large sections of your posts suggest a very specific argument that lockdowns were net more harm...
