Re: Decktech Archives

There’s over 1,000 more TR’s still to be gleaned from the archived data. Yea at this point, we just need to dump them into a server somewhere just to store that information before it is lost. Then we can figure out the best way to host and present it. I have it in a branch in github. (I’ll move a z...

Re: Decktech Archives

TRs will be a huge thing to save and store. There is so much history in them. Those are what I miss the most. I currently have 136 of them from 2000-2009. Even simply adding a legacy tournament report subforum, or years to the tournament reports sub forum would be sufficient to get those lists up. ...

Re: Decktech Archives

I just added a rough pass at the deck lists. You can page through every deck posted from 1999-2002: www.StephenSkilton.com/decktech_archives There’s over 4,000 decks there, but it still needs styling and filters (it’ll be able to filter by date, LS/DS, Author, text search, etc) This stuff takes a wh...

Re: Decktech Archives

Well I wish I would have known about that when I put a lot of hours into copying them manually If it makes you feel better, this tool wasn't created until after you started that project. If this didn't exist your files would have probably been all that would have been left. Wayback also didn't get ...

Re: Decktech Archives

I found a tool that lets you download everything from one url in waybackmachine and got everything it archived from decktech. It looks like I have at least about 4,000 decks from 1999-2002 plus lots of other info. If anyone with programming knowledge wants to help, I think my hope is to parse all of...

Re: Retro/Alternate Format Event on GEMP?

A ) Why would you need shields in a retro event?* B ) If you include v-shields without good reason you are really missing your target audience here. C ) Are the people this event is geared towards active on the forums or slack? * I would personally argue that you may need a minimal number of shields...

Re: GEMP source code

Which repository are you referring to? There will certainly be a Readme with details in ours when it is opened. I went to just try and google the older repo referenced in this thread: https://github.com/Tbiesty/gemp-swccg and and noticed the empty readme. (Which was kind of a non-starter.) For comp...

Re: GEMP source code

I noticed that there wasn't any documentation in the README. (Usually I'd expect to find instructions for required dependencies, and pulling and running locally, etc.)

Hopefully this will be flushed out and added as part of the open source project?

Re: Petition for an Official Retro Event Schedule

The PC will support a lot but someone needs to step up and run things. It is a lot easier for them to support an event if someone is already running it. It can be quite stressful for them to schedule things and not have someone to run it. The first Endor, I was asked about a month out to run it. I ...

Request for an Official Annual Decipher-Era Event

I'm going to try to summarize a discussion from Slack here for posterity: Can we incorporate retro events to the PC schedule and support on a limited basis (like once a year)? Background: I believe in 2011 and 2012 we had DS ii and Ref iii throwback events at worlds. Both events had a pretty decent ...

Re: GEMP Feature Requests

The sealed formats have never been updated since the release of gemp. (Prob bc it's a lower priority than the other tasks.) New formats would be nice, but at the very very least please fix some of the problems with the existing formats: - Jabba's Palace Sealed doesn't work without a few packs of Pre...

Re: Hypothetical tweaks

One thing that should probably be accepted by Me, Chu, Steve, Hayes, Eric and others who have really gotten aroused the idea of a reset/redux/major change is we all played the game and remember the power boost starting interupts gave us, prepared defenses and heading were mind blowing... ...my poin...

Re: Hypothetical tweaks

Don’t forget free movement was another thing that kept popping up too. -Playing (or swapping) lost interrupts from lost pile. That should to the bare minimum have a cost, like WYS has. The wys shield is a good example of how costs should be added over the course of game to help wind things down too.

Re: REVERT - The Reset/Redux/Revolution/Reedit Discussion

It's so weird to have lost all enthusiasm for a game that meant so much to me. I'd love to come back after a reset and see some good people again, and just have fun playing a game that I really enjoyed. I really wanted to try and pull together some of my biggest thoughts about the game that I though...

Re: Unpopular Opinion Challenge (Movies)

the possibilities from the ending of the second film could have been better in the third. You go from a bunch of different exciting possibilities at the end of 2 to the actual outcome of 3. Same idea as Buyer's Remorse - you have lots of different things you could buy, then when you pick one the ot...

Re: Unpopular Opinion Challenge (Movies)

I thin T3 is amazing. I've said that before. Also 2nd matrix before 3rd ruined it.. That's funny. I was about to post my picks were: Terminator Salvation (33% on RT) - I was amazed that T3 had higher reviews and that it scored badly at all. I think T3 is ok but not great. 3rd Matrix - I liked the w...

Re: Metal/Rock Music People

Tool fans are kind of like vegans but worse, in that within 30 seconds of meeting them they will ask if you like Tool. Followed immediately with an interrogation of why not, and an explanation of why you should. Have you tried answering with "yes"? That may enable you to skip the interrogation and ...

Well, the community skews 99% white and male, so that's probably going to correlate with musical preferences.
