fantasy worlds

Post by WiseMarsellus »

pick a team of at least three players. you have up to 100 points to spend. you take the best three placings on your team and add them up and that is your score. players who do not compete will be assigned a place of 1+n where n = number of attendants. lowest score wins. you may not pick unlisted players. if a player you wish to select is not on the list, notify me and i will seed them.

post your team in thread. no editing. first team you post is the one you get, no exceptions. if multiple people pick the same team, the one who picked that team first wins a tiebreaker.

i make no representations that the people on the list will actually be attending, and will not remove people who i know to not be attending from the list.

winner gets a pc foil

Here's some lobbying:

1) You should pick me.
Spoiler
Show
I will count in the final tally as between 1 and 5 points.

My post-reset results:

San Diego Grand Prix 2015: 1st
MPC 2015: 1st
Alderaan Regionals 2015: 1st
Bespin Regionals 2015: 1st
Minnesota States 2015: 1st
Nal Hutta Regionals 2015: 3rd
Worlds 2015: 3rd (lost to Desai, eventual winner)
Europeans 2015: 5th
Seattle Grand Prix 2016: 3rd (lost to Chu)
Worlds 2017: 5th (lost to Phil, eventual winner)
Euro MPC 2018: 3rd (lost to Emil, eventual winner)
Seattle GP 2018: 5th (lost to BFred)

Even if we don't count the regionals/states events, but just in the 8 majors I've played in the last 3 years, it looks like:
1st Place: 2
3rd Place: 3
5th Place: 3

Nothing lower.

All data points to me being adding 5 to your final point total, at most. :???
2) You should pick Phil.
Spoiler
Show
In the last 12 months he has:
Won Worlds.
Top 4 MPC.
Top 2 Seattle GP.

Gonna pick against that? :???

Seriously though, Emil/Chu/Desai are the odds on favorites to win. Pick them.

And pick yourself. Have a little dignity, for godssake.

some good teams chosen so far. Some of those 10 pt players are pretty out of date though- at least a couple haven't played in a tournament since the reset 4 years ago.

Any chance we can get some 5 pt players?

The spoiler tag in your sig doesn't work for me for some reason (though my mainpost ones do? Browser issue maybe?), but yeah, you're a great choice. Won worlds 2016, top 8 2017 worlds, won the most recent major, Nats 2018.

I wanted to pick you, really did, but I had to choose the champion (reid), had to choose myself (dignity), and that would have left me with 10. I felt better about choosing my brother and baroni than I did about choosing you + leaving 10 points on the board. No disrespect intended! :-D

(I still wish you were doing commentary instead of playing though  )

I'm triggered because Matt says he was leaving 10 points on the table when there are several viable 10-point options.

To be fair, Ross qualified for the OCS by going 10-2 the first month he signed up (last month).

That's not easy.
