ha, just read the birth story one, good stuff
going through the ER process in rome for a vespa crash, we could definitely relate to the miming through the whole experience thing (though on a smaller severity scale obv). we're pretty sure we didn't have to pay for visit and x-rays and such, but weren't completely positive. they shoo'ed us out.

Re: Euro Worlds II 2019 – European Vacation
To All:
I spoke to Chris M briefly about this, and it sounds like I'm swimming up stream with my next question/thought/discussion.
I was bummed when I found out World's 2018 would be in October, and I just thought to myself, "Oh well, my own fault, I didn't speak up. I'll just do so next year." Then I recently found out that World's for 2019 has already been announced and the date is in late September. This really bummed me out.
Here's the deal. If World's continues to be in mid to late fall, I cannot attend. My job just isn't conducive to having multiple absences. My point is, if at all possible I'd love it if World's was moved to an earlier date. I also have one weekend in October where they give me Thursday and Friday off and I'd be willing to fly to Germany that weekend as well.
Like I said... my hope is low.
1. Date has been announced.
2. I've heard it's Cheaper to Fly in Mid-Late Fall
3. Other's must have already contact the PC and requested this date.
I'm not saying my attendance is more important or valuable... I'm just crossing my fingers that no else cares. It's a longshot I know, but at least I can say I tried. Miss all you guys, and know that I'm making big gains here in MN expanding the community.
P.S. Thanks 6 on Top for helping get my uber sexy tag at the bottom. This is my first post with it flying. I love it.

Re: Euro Worlds II 2019 – European Vacation
Has anyone booked anything?
You can't book flights more than a year out usually.
Has anyone requested time off over a year out?
I am all for picking the dates that work best for everyone, given it's still a long way off.
I understand if that can't happen though.
I'm in whenever it is, I just like to see as many as possible make it.

I am planning to come and am interested in the trip and Oktoberfest. Trying to make it for 2 weeks so I have some time before and after worlds for being a tourist, something I should do more of at these events!

Ok, I'll keep this going and keep you updated.
We will see a few months from now, if there are enough people for doing a group thing. Should be fun!

Since Oktoberfest is going to be the main draw, I assume and possibility of moving it to an earlier or later date is out.
Hey, I get it. NP.

They do polls about the dates, and this year looks like it may be the most attended worlds in a long time.Walsetmd wrote:Since Oktoberfest is going to be the main draw, I assume and possibility of moving it to an earlier or later date is out.

Yes, we did poll and October Worlds won slightly.puck71 wrote:They do polls about the dates, and this year looks like it may be the most attended worlds in a long time.Walsetmd wrote:Since Oktoberfest is going to be the main draw, I assume and possibility of moving it to an earlier or later date is out.
Hey, I get it. NP.
We tried to bring lots of Europeans to Worlds this year and it worked.
Oktoberfest and the inexpensive flights were the main reasons for doing it in September next year, too.
I am truly sorry for any teachers and others with season restrictions, but we have to consider those with lower budgets or combining this with family vacations, too. Not everyone can win every year. Thanks for understanding, Marc.
We will likely also have a huge US Nats in summer next year (and a summer EC in Amsterdam).

Re: Euro Worlds II 2019 – European Vacation
Yeah there are a lot of factors. Last year was amazing too! We are trying to rotate time and location to accommodate as many people as possible. Sorry if it came off the wrong way, I probably should have added more to that post.

MN worlds was great. Euro Worlds will be great. Fall worlds, summer worlds.
Rotating times, places, and trying to get as many as possible is great.
Everyone rocks. The end.

PS: Feel free to vent about it, Marc, but maybe move it to the 2020 tread, since this here was meant to be for players that might want to expand their Euro Worlds trip with a vacation.

Re: Euro Worlds II 2019 – European Vacation
So what are the chances that this is streamed? I mean, this is worlds... It should be streamed IMO. I hope that can be worked out because I know euro events in the past weren't streamed.

If the PC gives me some indication about how to setup a stream (programs etc) then we might be able to do it.Throdo wrote:So what are the chances that this is streamed? I mean, this is worlds... Re: Euro Worlds II 2019 – European Vacation
I talked to one of the guys behind the bar and
1) they dont have internet in the pub,
2) the wifi that he was using behind the bar to stream something is actually the wifi of the guy living in the appartment above the bar and it does not reach into the main room,
3) the internet connection on my phone was quite bad inside the building.
If things dont change, i dont see how we can stream from this location, no matter how good our equipment. Sorry.
