World Championships 2019 Schedule

Post by Shadow 14 »

Euro Worlds II Schedule

Date: 20-22 September 2019 (Friday -Sunday)

Tournament Address:
Zu Den Vier Winden
Hofsteder Strasse 94
44809 Bochum
Germany
http://www.zu-den-vier-winden.de

Tournament Director Day 1: Angelo Consoli
Tournament Director Day 2 & 3: Chris “Euro Emperor” Menzel (cmenzel@hadewe.de) and Tamas Papp (papp.tom@gmail.com)

Prize Support:
1st place = $1200
2nd place = $600
3rd-4th place = $300
5th – 8th place = $150

Plus lots of stuff a la “Europeans” for every-one and their brother

Day 0 (Thursday - 19th September 2019)
Thursday evening is usually slow for the EC, but I expect this to be more crowded this year. We have only booked the complete location from Friday to Sunday, so expect other freaks and gamblers to frequent the place on Thursday evening. The large room probably has to be shared with magicians, vampires and other alien scum [“The opinion of the Emperor is not shared by the rest of the staff “– The Editorial team ]

Thursday Evening Wales Madness Event
Venue Opens: 18:00
Event Start: 19:00
Entry Fee: none
Number of Games: TBD
Number of Expected players: 8-10
Requirements: No deck lists required, open to all players

Event Details:
Well, nobody knows what’s going to happen, but knowing our buddies from Team Wales it will certainly be fun. It might end up in some “meet, drink & play”.

Thursday Evening Cube
Event Start: 20:00
Entry Fee: none
Number of Games: TBD
Number of Expected players: 8-10
Requirements: No deck lists required, open to all players

Event Details:
I will bring a Cube (3.0) as an alternative for this evening.
Players will draft from a pre-selected box of around 900 cards, and build decks for one side only (half of the players for DS and half for LS).

Day 1 (Friday –20th September 2019)

Sealed Tournament
Venue Opens: 13:00
Registration Start: 13:30
Event Start: 14:00
Due to traffic this is usually tricky on Friday, but we will try to start on time. If logistically possible: Late comers may enter during the deck construction phase or first round, if they arrive in pairs, and will be paired against each other.
Entry Fee: 20 Euro - you will receive 1x OSD (Original Sealed Deck) Box plus 1 x A New Hope Booster Pack for this money
Number of Games: 3 games of 1 hour each (plus 20 minutes construction time)
Number of Expected players: 10-24 (there is a maximum of 20 players, first posted first served)
Tournament Style: Sealed Deck
Ranking/Pairing System: Differential
Requirements: No deck lists required, open to all players.
Please pre-register here:
/viewt ... 25&t=73202

Event Details:
Sealed Deck:
A Sealed Deck tournament is played with unopened starter decks and booster packs.
The OSD box includes 18 fixed cards (exclusive to the box), 4x Premiere packs of 15 cards, 1x ANH booster of 15 cards. You will get an additional ANH booster of 15 cards. That adds up to a total of 108 cards.
This tournament type is composed of a series of individual games where players keep the same deck throughout the tournament. A player will usually play only one deck for one side of the Force: Light Side or Dark Side. Changes to these decks may be made during the tournament from the player‟s unused product from the deck-building period. A tournament consists of at least three games. For all Sealed Deck tournaments, game time limits are dependent on the number of cards being used in a deck. The standard rule is one minute per card. We will build 60 card decks, and therefore require a 60 minute time limit per game.
In sealed non-draft events, product remains unopened until each player is paired with their first opponent and assigned which side of the Force they will play throughout the tournament. Each player opens all his decks and packs simultaneously. Dark Side players give all of their Light Side cards to their opponents, and vice versa. Cards must be handled face down and not seen by either player prior to and during this exchange. (After the tournament each player keeps the cards they receive in the exchange.)
Deck Building: After the sealed product exchange is complete, players are given a set amount of time to build their deck: Players building 60 card decks will be given 20 minutes to build their deck.
Re-customization: No other cards may be added to a player‟s deck from outside the tournament or from trading between players during the tournament, but a player may re-customize their deck between games with cards from the original stock of sealed cards, provided they follow the deck construction guidelines.

Team Tournament
Registration Start: 18:30
Event Start: 19:00 (team tourney will not start before the sealed tourney is finished!)
Entry Fee: 10 Euro per team (= 5 € per person)
Number of Games: 3
Number of Expected players: 20-30
Tournament Style: Swiss Constructed (only reset v-cards allowed)
Ranking/Pairing System: Differential
b]Rules:[/b] 2 players will build one team. One play DS and one plays LS. Total results count.
Requirements: No deck lists required, open to all players

Event Details:
This is easy. Bulid a team of 2 players, and give yourselves a cool name (for example “Massacre Machine” or “Viking Squad 1”). One of the players has a DS deck and the other a LS deck. This will be as a normal constructed tournament, only that one team plays against another team. This might be a good last chance to test your deck for next day. It is also an opportunity for some crazy American/Euro team-ups.

Day 2 (Saturday – 21st September 2019)

World Championship Day 2 Tournament

Venue Opens: 09:30 am
Registration Start: 10:00 – 10:30 am
Tournament Start: 10:30 am
The tournament (and announcements) will start at 10:30 am. Please be prepared, have deck lists ready, and be registered by 10:30 am latest.

Entry Fee: 25 Euro
Number of Games: 8
Number of Expected players: 60-65
Tournament Style: Swiss Constructed (only reset v-cards allowed)
Ranking/Pairing System: SoS (Strength of Schedule)

Requirements: Deck lists required, open to all players.
You can email deck lists to me till 10:00 on Saturday at cmenzel@hadewe.de
(Needless to say I will NOT share these decks with any-one during the weekend)

Top 8: Top 8 players will advance to Day 3
Any player with a score of 6:2 or better will usually automatically advance to day 3. If there are more than 8 players with score 6:2 or better, then the lowest seeds will immediately play another round on Day 2 to determine the winners.
Please find the rules of determining Top 8 competitors here:
viewtopic.php?f=1074&t=69890

Day 3 (Sunday – 22nd September 2019)

World Championship Day 3 Tournament

Venue Opens: 10:30 am
Registration Start: 10:30 am
Tournament Start: 11:00 am

Entry Fee: None
Special Note: Entry fee is free. Games will be 1:30 minutes each.
Number of Games: 3 rounds (of 2 games) – each player plays both sides in elimination.
Number of Expected players: 8 (determined on day 2, see above)
Tournament Style: Match Play (only reset v-cards allowed)
Ranking/Pairing System: Elimination with Randomized Top 8 Pairing

Requirements: Only open to Top Day 2 players!
PRINTED/WRITTEN deck lists required (hard copy needed for deck checks before/during games).
Final Confrontation: Top 2 players will play the final confrontation.

Event Details:
Day 3 Match play elimination event. Only the Top players from Day 2 can play. No additional entry fee.
The top 4 players and bottom 4 players will randomly be paired (the top 4 are the higher seed). Higher seed chooses the side (DS/LS) he plays first.
Please find the new rules of Day 3 pairings here:
viewtopic.php?f=1074&t=69890

Consolation Tournament
Registration Start: 11:30
Event Start: 12:00
Entry Fee: included in the day before
Number of Games: 4
Number of Expected players: 10-20
Tournament Style: Swiss Constructed (only reset v-cards allowed)
Ranking/Pairing System: Differential
Requirements: No deck lists required, open to all players

Event Details:
The Consolation Tourney is for all others who did not “make” the Top 8 on Day 2. There are NO deck lists required for this event, and the “nothing to lose” atmosphere is usually much more cheerful that the one for the Top players. We could use some help with running the consolation tourney. Potential helper can still play.

The date is definitely 20-22 September?
If so, I’m in.
Hopefully with less airplane trouble than the EC.

I've just posted this to the Facebook group:

I'm looking for roommates for Worlds 2019 in Bochum. An apartment (2 single beds and a double sofa bed) at the Acora Hotel is 290 Euro for 3 nights (I'd be staying Friday-Monday). I'm offering it out here first but I'm looking to book soon so if there are no takers here then I'll be posting this plea to the forums.

Chris - so the plan is for a separate EC as well? This will stretch finances and marital relations!

Paul - I’ll definitely be aiming at going but it’s too early for me to commit to anything.

@Justin,
Yes there will be an EC. Last time we had Worlds, it was in England that year (2012). This time it will be in Holland.

If you have to chose, I have to recommend Worlds, because you guys don't have that many chances to take part in a WORLD championship in Europe. But hopefully many of you are able to take another weekend off and visit beautiful Amsterdam, maybe with your spouses.

Regarding the hotels,
I will try to get special deals from both hotels for the time, but have to post that later.

It should be enough, Martin.
If you can get one train earlier to be save, then do it. Otherwise it should be fine.

In line with schedule questions - I'm arriving on the Thursday and leaving on the Sunday night; would I be better off shifting my reservations to arriving on the Friday (at like 10am to Dusseldorf) and leaving on the Monday? Cheers.

OCS 2019 (19-65)

I’m not saying I'm aiming to be the worst player in the history of SW:CCG. But someone has to be...right?
