Honor of the Jedi

Post by Martindb »

Hi guys,

with worlds less then a month away I have a request I want to make to all of you. It does however require some explaining, but I hope you can take the time to read it anyway. For your convenience I did place a Tldr tag where the actual question begins, was the best I could do without shortening the story :)

I’ve been attending Euro’s in Bochum for a couple of years now and I have always really enjoyed it very much, from the first time meeting Rasmus (and meeting him again the year after only to find out he’d completely forgot we ever met) to seeing epic counts and vikings games, playing exhillarating podraces and most of all enjoying just being there with a great group of people, having fun, playing cards, drinking beers and what not.

Last year, a lot changed for me however. I had a great weekend as always (though missing out on the friday and drove there on day 2) but after getting back home and going to study on monday, I came home only to find the police at my door a short hour after I arrived.

They came to inform me that my father had passed away and that they found him in his appartment. While they found him on the 24th, it was clear from certain things that he had died on the morning of the 22nd of september, while I was driving to Bochum for Euro’s.

I still wonder about a lot of things (like what would have happened if I’d just called him when I was on the road) but that’s not the point here.
As I think you can imagine, my father passing had a great impact on me, and it still does, even if it doesn’t show that much.

It also had me not touching my cards or playing any games for several months afterwards. I have started playing again this year but has ever since been connected to my father dying.

With worlds being held from 20-22 september this year,
it means I’ll be playing on the day he died again (or we’ll see how that goes).

However, I don’t want to let this day pass by unnoticed so I came up with something that I thought would be a beautiful sign and also to maybe give me some closure on this connetion of playing and passing.

TLDR
I would like to ask everyone who can spare one to bring their own copy of Honor of the Jedi for me.

And then sign this for me (with signature and name) on the 22nd of september in honor of my father.

For this I am gathering as much honors as I can myself but as the attendance list keeps growing (which is great!) I can’t get them all by myself. This is where you all hopefully can help out.

I am currently somewhere near 20 copies myself so I could sure still use a lot (with 50 people attending so far and maybe some extra’s)

I hope you can all help out and make this work. I would truly be honored.

Greets and see you soon!

I'm gonna see if I can get people to sign some this weekend at NA Continentals and send them to someone.

Worst case, you have at least one from me.

Of course. I'l put it with Kryptos cards. Then I either remember both or forget both equally.

Least we could do, Martin.

Or better yet, just ban DDM from playing creatures.
