2020 OCS Scoreboard Watching

Post by arebelspy »

Two days into the new OCS season, time to check in and see how people have started the month!

Scoreboard leaders*:
CoffeePass 5-0
gavino1983 4-0
jnapolit31 4-0
arebelspy 2-0

*Minimum 2 games and undefeated, or 5+ games and only one loss

Interestingly, when copy/pasting from last year's thread, I noticed Gavino started last year's opening month 4-0 as well, and went on to make the top 16 (and top 8 even, IIRC). Portends well for him.

As I type this, CoffeePass and Gavino are in an OCS game, so one of them will lose their undefeated status (but remain on the scoreboard, as they'll both have 5+ total games and zero or one loss still).

CP won the aforementioned game, and then went to 7-0, until I was able to break his streak.

JNap picked up 2 wins and a loss, Gavin a win and the previously mentioned loss, while I picked up that win. CP is in another game right now vs timeyouppi; apparently CP is trying to get in all his games early and set the bar.

Stubbly finished all 12 games already!

No one else has joined the leader board.

Scoreboard leaders*:
CoffeePass 7-1
jnapolit31 6-1
gavino1983 5-1
arebelspy 3-0

*Minimum 2 games and undefeated, or 5+ games and only one loss

Also update: Wadden = timeyouppi and Drew = CoffeePass or CP, so this is the game that Joe/arebelspy wrote above.

Thanks for the update! I saw the beginning of that game (and gained a new respect for Dash Rendar v) but had to go to bed.

Sucks starting 7-0 then dropping back-to-back games. That'll knock him off the leaderboard.

Still waiting for the above two posters to start crushing the rest of us.

...and the above two posters play some OCS games, with one making the leader board and the other not. And you WON'T BELIEVE which is which.

(Couldn't help adding some clickbait in.)

In honour of a mere days-old Brexit, two our of English compatriots join the leaderboard, with both PaulMcP and Silverglen starting out 2-0. To add insult to injury, Paul makes his former Germany ally, Bastian, start the month 0-1.

How did he do it?? It's one little secret scientists don't want you to know!

(Luck.)

Paul gets a very favourable matchup with NI v Bastian's CCT, where early spies free the captive, then go wide to the drain 2 DS sites.

As mentioned, CP took a second loss and drops off. JNap picks up an extra win, by beating Kingery's HD by a single life force. Close one.

Scoreboard leaders*:
jnapolit31 7-1
gavino1983 5-1
arebelspy 3-0
PMcPherson 2-0
Silverglen 2-0

*Minimum 2 games and undefeated, or 5+ games and only one loss

I terribly misplayed in both (in our game I Jedi Leved to retrieve an EPP Obi at a crucial moment when I needed a guy and I already had General Kenobi in play; against Matt I was playing sloppy and needing reverts all game, plus vs. Dash(v) I forgot Greedo would trigger him and thought I was in the clear when I lost 4-LOM...) so I deserve my Icarus-flying-too-close-to-the-sun moment to gain some humility after not having played competitively in 15 years. :-D

Jabba triggered him after 4-Lom was lost, not Greedo.

Traveling to Europe, so I didn't get any viewing in, so no additional commentary today.

JNap picks up 2 more wins. If he can win his final two, he should very likely qualify this month at 11-1.

Gavin takes a second loss and drops off.

tge_damen wins 4 in a row and aermet69 wins two, both joining the leaderboard since the last update.

Silverglen and I both win one more.

We now have two Euros, two ex-Euros, and two ex-(ex-Euros). If you get my drift.

Scoreboard leaders*:
jnapolit31 9-1
arebelspy 4-0
the_damen 4-0
Silverglen 3-0
PMcPherson 2-0
aermet69 2-0

*Minimum 2 games and undefeated, or 5+ games and only one loss

Just my luck. Finally get my interwebs fixed and my first two games are against tge.damen and silverglen (combined 13-0). Surprisingly I’ve started 1-1. Now on to my next 6 losses to get my monthly foil. Pin me, pay me.
