World Championship Top 8 Information

Post by imrahil327 »

Here are the final top 8 standings! Thank you to all competitors these past two weekends, and congratulations to these 8 for their stellar play.

1. Bastian Winkelhaus
2. Joe Olson
3. Jared Napolitano
4. Justin Desai
5. Quirin Fürgut
6. Paul Myers
7. Fernando Castañon
8. Chris Kelly

A couple of housekeeping notes for tomorrow:

•Decklists are due at 9 AM Eastern, same rules and format as before
•We will randomize pairings between 9 and 10 AM, and matches will start at 10 AM Eastern
•It was brought to my attention that there was an error in the Floor Rules:
Rule 15 states "A game concession during the match play portion of the event will result in a -20 differential or your opponent’s actual differential, whichever is higher."

This was erroneously copied from the rules used for the online MPC event earlier this year.

The ruling for match play in the Tournament Guide will be used for Day 3 games, which is as follows:
During Match Play, a player may not concede the first game, but at any time may concede the entire match (and consequently, a player may also concede the second game if doing so is also conceding the entire match)
So in short, conceding the first game of a match before one player's Life Force is depleted will be considered a concession of the entire match, and is not intended as a strategic option to lower differential.
