January 7th Deck Building Challenge
For this challenge, we are asking players "who can hit the most number of characters with blasters in a Shadow Collective deck". Please note, hitting a character multiple times only counts as hitting them once. As always, please provide a deck list, replay link, and screen shot. Players will have until 8:00 pm EST on January 31st to enter. As always you must win the game and it must be in a league match.
Starting this week, Batmouse is offering GEMP gold to those who win deck building challenges. Good luck!

Re: January 7th Deck Building Challenge
Might be a low bar to set, but figured it would generate interest. Three hits.
Also winning with Shadow Collective is a bit difficult for me :D
Won in an open series game, probably would have had a couple more hits if it was fully played out:

Decklist and Screenshot are in the spoiler below. Yodad was running All Wrapped Up in his SC deck and I am a sucker for that card. Deck looks to do shadow collective things and then take advantage of capture tech (Human Shield, IG V, pings from OG Sonic Bombardment and Hunting Party V, capturing during battle for battle damage) while having a bit higher destiny than usual with all the 7s.

Re: January 7th Deck Building Challenge
You shouldn't call it a "deck building challenge" if you have to win with it. It should be a "deck winning challenge."

I disagree.sjacree wrote:You shouldn't call it a "deck building challenge" if you have to win with it. It should be a "deck winning challenge."
Making a winning build of a deck can, and should, be a part of the challenge.
Otherwise you just sell out to do a silly thing and it's not a real or viable deck.
That's literally the challenge. Do this thing, but still be able to win.
A deck winning challenge you just need to win with a deck, no building required. These challenges require building a deck to complete the challenge.

Re: January 7th Deck Building Challenge
They could just call it the Holotheatre Challenge of the Month. That way it's as open as possible to whatever they want to do.

Then someone will complain it's not a challenge.

Yeah, that one's a deck winning challenge for sure.Berm wrote:Yeah and they would never do that...viewtopic.php?f=1223&t=76907&p=1324067& ... e#p1324067arebelspy wrote: ↑January 15th, 2021, 10:01 amI disagree.sjacree wrote:You shouldn't call it a "deck building challenge" if you have to win with it. Good contrast to this one!

Re: January 7th Deck Building Challenge
I'm not saying you shouldn't build a viable deck (one that can win). I'm suggesting that deck building and deck playing are two different skills. Winning is often (and should be) praised; deckbuilding is not. It is too easy to take a winning decklist and win with it yourself. It is much more difficult to paint a masterpiece of a deck or pioneer a decktype and it get the recognition that it deserves. With these challenges, I'm suggesting an emphasis on deck building rather than deck playing.arebelspy wrote: ↑January 15th, 2021, 10:01 amI disagree.sjacree wrote:You shouldn't call it a "deck building challenge" if you have to win with it. Re: January 7th Deck Building Challenge
Submitting my shadow collective deck list and the replay in the GEMP tourney. Don't know how many times it hit a character but my opponent kept stepping in front of the blasters

Re: January 7th Deck Building Challenge
Deck link doesn't work for us. Can you hit the export button (the down arrow icon that's third from the left in the open decks), which will download a txt file, which you can attach to a post or copy/paste here?
I know a bunch of us have been wanting to see your list. :D

Re: January 7th Deck Building Challenge
4 hits from blasters, 2 more hits from hidden weapons is the official count! I assume hidden weapons hits would constitute tiebreakers?
Nice work Yodad, thanks for sharing the deck and good luck in the subsequent rounds of the gempc!
