2021 OCS Scoreboard Watching
2021 OCS Scoreboard Watching
We're now just over halfway through the first month of OCS. Much attention in the first half of the month was on the Jawas in Love event, now eyes turn to the OCS to finish the 12 games in the shortest month of the year!
Let's check in and see how people have started the month!
It looks like 10-2 will be the cutoff (possibly 11-1) at least, so I'm dropping anyone with 3+ losses.
Scoreboard leaders*:
allstarz97 9-2
arebelspy 7-2
timeyouppi 7-1
zlorfik 6-0
tarkin84 5-2
Yoshi 5-2
jagteq 5-2
adamtrunzo 4-2
killerkiwi 3-2
aeneas23 3-2
noreply 3-2
Gornall 3-2
wcullen 3-1
chriskelly 3-0
*Minimum 4 games, 2 losses or less
The 3-2s are unlikely to finish out 7-0, so bolded the strongest bids at the moment.

Re: 2021 OCS Scoreboard Watching
Now we're seeing more action with JiL over. People are climbin, 10-2 is dicey now.
I won 2, Bastian won one, jagteq won one, Gornall won 3. Chris Kelly won 3, aeneas won two, jokerking joins the leaderboard at 5-2, bfred joins at 4-0. Yoshi and WCullen drop off the leaderboard.
Scoreboard leaders*:
allstarz97 9-2
arebelspy 9-2
timeyouppi 7-1
zlorfik 7-0
jagteq 6-2

chriskelly 6-0
tarkin84 5-2
jokerking 5-2
aeneas23 5-2
retwin316 4-0
adamtrunzo 4-2
*Minimum 6 games, 2 losses or less, or 4 games 1 loss or less.
Bolded the candidates looking best right now. Likely the two winners this month come from those 5.

Re: 2021 OCS Scoreboard Watching
I won another, first 10-2, but it won't hold due to a low win percentage even if a 10-2 sneaks in, so both spots still very live. Quite possible it won't even make the top 5, unless some of the leaderboard people start playing each other.
BFred won 5, jokerking 3 more, Wadden won one, Bastian won and lost one, ckelly won 2 more, Nick R two more, Miguel one more.
Gornall, adamtrunzo, and jagteq drop off the leaderboard.
Scoreboard leaders*:
arebelspy 10-2
allstarz97 9-2
retwin316 9-0
jokerking 8-2
timeyouppi 8-1
zlorfik 8-1
chriskelly 8-0
aeneas23 7-2
tarkin84 6-2
*Minimum 6 games, 2 losses or less.
The four bolded have the best chance at the two spots.

Re: 2021 OCS Scoreboard Watching
Nick Reisch (aeneas23) wins his final 3 games and jumps to the top of the Leaderboard on Opponents' Win Percentage (now added in brackets correct at the time of this post). Brian Fred (retwin316) wins 1 and loses 1 and is currently in 3rd. Bastian Winkelhaus (zlorfik) wins another 2 games and moves up to 4th. Matt Wadden (timeyouppi) wins another game whilst Miguel Tarin (tarkin84) loses his third game and drops off the Leaderboard.
As it stands I'd say that the four players with 1 loss or less are still the favourites but time is running out for Chris Kelly (chriskelly) to get his final 4 games in.
Scoreboard leaders*:
aeneas23 10-2 (46.72%)
arebelspy 10-2 (39.34%)
retwin316 10-1 (41.35%)
zlorfik 10-1 (31.82%)

jokerking 8-2 (41.18%)
chriskelly 8-0 (53.95%)

Adding in some detail:
BFred's loss was with diplo to Matt Scott's HD v, breaking Fred's undefeated streak.
Bastian (playing AITC) just beat KillerKiwi's HD v to finish 11-1 and set the bar for the month. Low SOS, so if two others (between Kelly, Wadden, and Fred) finish with just 1 loss, Bastian won't make it, but if just one of the 3 others does, he will. No 10-2s should make it unless BFred and Wadden both lose one more and CKelly loses two more, unlikely.

Also go figure, this AITC Fambas game was super close but real fun, my one loss was the one time I loaded up a boring HITCO worlds deck.

My two losses were also deck losses, known when we flipped starting cards.Death Star wrote:Also go figure, this AITC Fambas game was super close but real fun, my one loss was the one time I loaded up a boring HITCO worlds deck.
Like you, one boring worlds deck (hitco, losing to stubbly hd non v). The other I tried to have fun with QMC, and then ran into court. Couldn't even get one hurrah in with it before the next meta

Your aitc game was fun. I couldn't believe Brandon initiated that last battle, when all he had to do was move Vader to the castle and drain/visage you out. A round or two of that and you can't pay to drain. Boring way to win versus battling into your stack, but reliable.
Two days left. Any of four people could take the final two spots, realistically.

Re: 2021 OCS Scoreboard Watching
What's funny about that last battle against Bastian is that I forgot which characters text I cancelled, between enforcer Vader and the Sister stacking the hatred card I thought I had cancelled Lando's text, heh. I was tired and just trying to get more of my OCS games in so it led to some sloppy play at the end. Also the deck I was playing had 12 Emperors in it and was rather silly.arebelspy wrote: ↑February 26th, 2021, 10:12 amMy two losses were also deck losses, known when we flipped starting cards.Death Star wrote:Also go figure, this AITC Fambas game was super close but real fun, my one loss was the one time I loaded up a boring HITCO worlds deck.

Haha 12 emperors and one tired mistake from beating the best in the world. That's still a pretty neat badge of honor.

Re: 2021 OCS Scoreboard Watching
I just wanted to take a moment to thank all of my opponent's this month. I finished a more-than-respectable 9-3 thanks mainly to Paul Myers' IE deck going 6-0. Some of you would not have noticed but I was AWOL from this great game for a few months since the first lockdown (March 23 here in the UK). I can't quite but my finger on why but the number of games that I have played since then reads as follows:
April: 11 (10 OCS)
May: 9 (all OCS)
June: 0
July: 4 (all OCS)
August: 3 (2 OCS)
September: 0
October: 8 (6 Corona Cup)
November: 0
December: 4 (all against rando_cal)
January: 1
February: 47* (12 OCS; 12 P-DSII; 11 versus rando_cal) *and counting
Prior to lockdown I had never not played all 12 OCS games in a month in the 2+ years that it has been running. I am really hoping that I do not slip back and stop playing again and I'm really excited about the next month of the OCS and the start of the Naboo League. Take care everyone and remember that if you are struggling to reach out to those around you or to other members of our great community.

Re: 2021 OCS Scoreboard Watching
Brian Fred (retwin316) wins his final game to knock all players with 2 losses out of contention and make the possible permutations very easy. If Chris Kelly (chriskelly) can go 3-1 or better in his remaining games then it will be Brian and Chris who qualify otherwise it will be Brian and Bastian Winkelhaus (zlorfik) who qualify. Either way, massive congratulations to Brian on being our first qualifier of the season.
Scoreboard leaders*:
retwin316 11-1 (40.32%)
zlorfik 11-1 (33.64%)
chriskelly 8-0 (53.85%)
*Minimum 8 games, 1 loss or less.
Speaking from previous experience, it actually becomes pretty difficult to find games in the last day or so due to most active players already completing their games and potential opponents not matching up with the correct side. I really hope that Chris does manage to get his final 4 games in though.
