Demo Decks For Beginners - FAQ Forum

Post by Shadow 14 »

We have just released a new set of printable demo decks for beginners.

Please find the demo decks and expansion 1 here:
https://www.starwarsccg.org/wp/star-war ... beginners/

Please find the demo deck expansion 1 here:
https://www.starwarsccg.org/wp/demo-deck-expansion-1/

Please find the demo deck expansion 2 here:
https://www.starwarsccg.org/wp/demo-deck-expansion-2/

The Gemp files for the expansions can be found here:
/viewt ... 8#p1284171

I have further made the following changes to the article:

- Added link to the Beginner's Rulebook

- Put the actual 4 promo cards in the article (instead of the text from proofing)

- Added a passage that clearly says that the black border version of the 4 promos will be tournament legal as of March 3rd.

- Uploaded a new better scaled version of the the demo decks (works in letter format and DIN-A 4)

- Linked to Lenny's NARP article and Camden's Holonet Transmission on the news page.

Also, regularily check the news section for an update on how we will support this with articles, online decks, podcasts, etc.

New players can also post their questions here, and hopefully the whole community will chime in to answer these.

"The complete PDF features one deck of each side (Light Side/Dark Side), and consists entirely out of existing cards (looking exactly like the originals, no AIs), including 4 exclusive cards that will be tournament legal latest as of the next set following the demo decks."

Just for clarification, the 4 promo cards are legal when the next set of demo cards is released? Do we have an exact date for this?

I didn't see this directly linked in the post, but I'd like to point out the "beginner's rulebook" for those attempting to play for the first time.

The 4 promo cards (the two objectives and Ahsoka and Asajj) are fully tournament legal one week from today. They are not a part of Set 6, but rather can be thought of as an "Enhanced" expansion (think EJP and ECC). That's why you'll see the old Decipher Premium icon. The "P" icon in the bottom right denotes it is a premium virtual set.

Just remember that the cards with colored borders are not tournament legal, and they say as much on the card. The PDF of just the promo cards IS tournament legal starting March 3rd. The PDF for the legal cards is found here:

Yay new cards! Not that I can use the lightside one in either deck I enjoy playing lol. The double sabers seem really, really good against scrubs. Get in your vehicles little guys!

The PDF deck and the card list above have different versions of Grand Moff Tarkin and Mara Jade specified. Are they supposed to be (v) or non-(v)?

These look great. Really appreciate the effort going into "recruiting" new players. Definitely the biggest challenge is getting more New players than returning. This will definitely remedy that.

Yup. Looks like it was saved with a size of 7.9"x11.4" instead of the typical 8.5"x11" letter size.

How does this work with the official PC policy about proxies?

this is a special exception, and that is why we have the different colored borders and text indicating that these cards are not legal for normal use

Proxies are still absolutely forbidden (except in rare cases, ie warped foils) from sanctioned tournament play. Nothing has changed in that area.
