Hello all,

I was enraptured with the SWCCG when it came out. However, being 12 at the time, I lacked the resources to participate. By the time I was old enough to gather the funds, the game had already been shut down, and life was speeding up. Now, over 20 years later, I've gotten back into it with my girlfriend and we were both excited and disappointed to find that there are scans of all the cards we might need, but they're terrible in quality.

Being a retired graphic designer with a masters degree, I have some serious scanning and computer equipment! I've got the time, motivation, and ability to put together an entire 600dpi SWCCG image archive. I've contacted a few people I've found with complete collections, but haven't heard back from them yet. I'm willing to spend the time scanning, adjusting, and hosting every single card in the SWCCG, so we have access to them forever. It would be a major boon for the community. I'm willing to do all the work just so I can have them myself, so I can imagine there are quite a few of you out there who would also enjoy a set of scans!

Does anyone here have access to a complete collection and is willing to discuss tackling this project with me? Thank you!

Thank you for the votes of confidence!

For those of you who are questioning what results this project might bring, here is an example of a card I scanned today:

Please don't bother trying to discredit me, Remaker. I've just started playing the game again after over twenty years and haven't had an account until now. According to you, I should spend years posting and interacting with the community before suggesting such a task? This is days upon days worth of work I'm willing to do for free, and you're going to attempt to make me out as a villain?

I own an eBay top rated seller store with 3800 positive feedback. My name is James. I live in Omaha. If anyone is interested in working with me, I'd be more than willing to provide them with the rest of my information, phone number, address, and more. I'm also willing to have legal documents drafted to prevent me from 'stealing their collection' if they so choose. No one would be willing to work with me until I discuss the 'how' with them - I feel that should have been obvious. I'm well aware of what an entire collection of SWCCG cards are worth, otherwise I would have already purchased a set of my own to scan - there are several on eBay right now for sale at $3000+.

I'm trying to aid the community. You've already disqualified yourself as someone without a complete set, so please just move along.

The scans look great! Almost sharper than the originals, as if there's some software optical reading trick there.

This is an awesome idea. A lot of players will be happy with it and not just for the occasional proxy.

I hope you find someone not too far away that can borrow his complete set. Maybe look in the Player Locator forum?

That's a great idea Floris! I went ahead and posted in the player locator forum under the appropriate location.

I have five different scanners to use, and I've tried them all on the cards. My Mustek A3F2400N 2400dpi/48-bit scanner seems to pick up the best color, contrast, and detail on the cards. As you said, the results almost look surreally accurate in areas when comparing the actual card with my eyeballs. Just makes me more excited to do this!

If I cannot find anyone with a complete set, I'll eventually start buying sets one expansion at a time to scan. But I'll have to buy one, scan it, wait for it to sell again on eBay, and then move on to another. Funds are pretty tight right now. I'd also lose out on having access to all the promos and odds & ends that most people have picked up over the years.

Great idea! Are you going to post updates as you go along? Also, are you going to put them in an easy to access location like the card lists already on the site? Thanks

Absolutely, but if someone provides me with a complete set, I'll be taking time off work and scanning them non-stop until they're done. This will go rapidly.

I need to take a look at how everything is listed on this site, and everyone is more than welcome to aid me with their suggestions, but I'll make sure every card is labeled, sorted by expansion, and added to a database. Anything that the player committee needs of me, I'll be happy to provide as well.

I have also PM'ed Munchanka to see what his resources are! ^_^

I live in Hastings (just a couple hours west of you) and have at least one complete set of everything.

Are you trying to get scans of both foils and originals? WB and BB? AI and regular? Sorry if this was already mentioned and I missed it.

If you are not looking to scan literally every card, what about Pre-2.0 cards (Special Edition) that were later foiled and thus had corrected text?

The other thing to consider is that while the PC images might not be glorious quality, it looks like they have been updated with the correct (post-errata) text. By looking at the Decipher Errata slips pdf, it looks like there are about 500 cards with official text different from the card itself. Just something to consider while thinking about going to all this work; a significant percentage of card texts won't be correct.

I certainly don't mind making the trip out to see you then! I'll PM you about that. That's fantastic luck!

If people are interested in having all options - and I suspect they will want them - I think its the proper thing to do it right and scan both versions. Is a foil version something someone would want to print? I'm not entirely sure what they'll look like when scanned, but I suspect they'll have a blue or green haze across them and just appear more or less 'bad'.

I'm willing to scan 'everything' to make sure this is done right. I will address the corrected text below.

All of the Errata slips are of perfect quality and really aren't that big of a deal to overlay onto the 'old version' of the cards that I scan. It will be a project in and of itself, but lets face it, it needs to be done if I'm going to make scans available. I'd rather scan the old cards and overlay the errata onto them so they look correct than just scan the foil ones, which I'm dubious about.

Well, I promised updates, so here is the first one!

Tomorrow I'll be meeting with AdmiralMotti to get started on the first five of the sets. He is being gracious enough to provide his own personal collection to us all for scanning! Talk about amazing! Be sure to give him a million hugs and/or high-fives. He deserves it.

Looks like this is actually going to happen! I'll continue posting updates here as this progresses. I'm very excited.

For their commendable archival efforts, Motti and Strangewayes should get custom v-card characters as Imperial archivists at the Citadel Tower on Scarif.

I already know what my text is going to be:
Once per game, examine the cards in your reserve deck, reorder however you wish, and replace; change your mind on how you ordered them, take them out of the sleeves altogether and put them into different art sleeves that fit the theme of your deck better; then take those out of the sleeves again and try to shoehorn the basic character pattern into a completely different objective; buy more ink cartridges; set aside 15 of the v-slips you printed out and then print out 15 new ones to fit your new objective; reshuffle.

I love it. The whole spoof v slips never got off the ground but this would be so good for that.
