I'm confused.

Everything looks the same for me, except avatars are on the right now instead of the left.

What changed?

I kinda feel the same way here. The differences are very minimal for me. I selected a new theme, spent less than 5 minutes navigating my preferences and now I'm set.
Dare I say, I like this new forum interface a bit better? Why is everyone so up in arms?

I didn't even change themes.

I went onto the forums on my phone on mobile (Firefox) after seeing this thread on tapatalk, saw literally no difference, then went to the computer (Firefox) and saw the avatars switched to the right. There's a couple other buttons or something at the bottom of the thread on how to sort the posts.

I see essentially no difference.

I am so confused as to what everyone else is seeing. Is it that black screenshot like Emil put?

i think only people who used subsilver noticed a change. thank you jeremy for adding in this option, it's a close enough approximation that using the forums is now tolerable

Well at least it is 4k ready, all the other theme don't even use half my screen. 1800 px width is way to low.

I mean we don't even have a custom header. For a site where all the information is generally on the forum it needs to be much much better.

Edit: I noticed some new themes were added and that helped. Harshness redacted. But a custom header and icons for the sub forums would go a long way to making the forum look more professional.

Maybe the custom header could be put on the to do list for the graphics team, now that set 11 is out of the way - I’d assume that a header can be implemented (it’s generally out of the box functionality)?

The ‘Allen - subsilver’ layout is the closest to the old one.
For context, most content is now viewed over mobile these days, so forums are built for that first.

Changing the width of the forum to max has also made this a more bearable experience.

Trying out the multi-quote thing here. If it sucks, this is a test. We used to have a custom header back in the day. It was removed in order to allow people to browse the forums from work (or in public) more discretely.

Are you aware the forums are broken for most people (just displaying a white page)? For the whole day so far (since 11pm pdt last night I believe).

A few can access, making me think it's related to theme. And it works via tapatalk.

Yep. It's a theme thing. Queso just changed Apollo's (who couldn't get in) theme, and now Apollo can.

It's all white for me, but I am in through Tapatalk.

For most people it's broken--everyone in Gemp chat is assuming forums are down for an upgrade all day still, not realizing they're up, just the display is broken for most because the main theme broke.

It was definitely an affirmative choice to remove it. It was always there until about 6-8 years ago (sometime pre-reset) when it was removed with Advocate's permission. There was definitely discussion about it and he made the call. Then it may have been added back to some of the themes, but not subsilver. I use the forums in court, surrounded by both other lawyers and my clients. I'm not going to be able to do that if there's a giant Star Wars logo there.

On mobile, the image doesn't show up (at least on the flat styles), so you could still browse the forums if you're on your phone. Again, new forum software is much more mobile friendly. Also I don't think you'd have the logos on tapatalk either.

Is is not possible to have a default theme with a SWCCG logo that would be seen by visitors and new users, while having a more discrete logo-less theme for those who want it?

Can confirm that there’s no logos on Tapatalk. But for people who are trying to browse at work without drawing unwanted attention, sitting on your phone instead isn’t really an ideal alternative.

Use ublock or equivalent to block the image file if you don't want it seen. Or just add it to your hosts file so it doesn't load.

I’m sure this is not the case, but this gave me a humorous mental image of a murder trial and Casey scrolling through the forums during testimony
