Didn't the game come out in December of 1995? I'm wondering how many actually got involved on release day.
I'm a legit '95er. My dad got me the Premiere 2PG for one of the later nights of Hannukah, which ran from Dec 18-25 that year.
I think the Collecting Encyclopedia needs an update then (says Premiere 2PG was February ‘96):

That's such a big assumption--that everyone knows that, remembers perfectly accurately, etc.

I think a lot of 1995 responses would be more "The first year is 1995? Well, I played from the beginning" when they weren't actually in the first two weeks.

I don't think assuming every 1995 response means they were literally in 1995 is accurate. I'd bet more than half weren't actually in the first two weeks, but are just thinking "yeah, I played at the beginning".
That's fine, I still think it's an interesting data point even if not totally accurate.

I don't find inaccurate data points interesting. You have someone who puts 1995 because they meant from the beginning but actually played after someone who puts 1996 cause they bought in Jan 96, or cause they don't remember for sure, or whatever. It's just numbers at that point, and trying to find a distinction that's inaccurate implies meaning when there isn't any.

If memories were accurate, I'd find it interesting. But I think it would actually be more likely to misinform than be informative. YMMV.
If instead of putting 96, 97, 98, etc, I put 1, 2, 3 for years, 95 vs 96 wouldn’t make a difference

The gist of the graphic is to show the times people played, not who was first. Not that that isn’t interesting or valuable, just don’t think the distinction of Dec 95 vs Jan 96 vs July 96 changes the messages I’m going for :)

Since every event season is like December thru nov, year 1 would be dec95 thru nov 96, etc- would that make the graphic easier or more confusing

I think its more likely our memory is incorrect for the 2-player sets.

I actually thought about this, but here's how I know I'm right. I got the set for Hannukah. That part I know for sure. And I know it had to be 1995, because at some point during the following year my dad and I go to a sci-fi convention and Decipher is there. We chat with some Decipher people and they basically explain the concept of an expansion set and tell us that they've just released their first expansion set for SWCCG and give us 2 free packs of ANH, which they said had just come out. So that must've been summer or fall '96. Which means I got the 2PG in December 95. Also, I remember when Hoth was released. I remember reading about it in Star Wars Insider. So again, if that was prior to December '96 (it was), then the 2PG must've been out December '95.

also, can we please include John Anderson and Eric White on there, if people know better than I what their active years were?

also if theres anyone else that has passed that I'm not aware of etc

also we should try to ping a lot of our friends who have long since stopped playing, at least to get them on there, like brian herold, kevin shannon, etc

I’ve probably played 15 games since July 2019. I consider that not quite active...

Active always. "Competitive" is usually controverse to "volunteer work" ;) which I did most of the time.

The game definitely came out in the US in December 1995.
