Fantasy Worlds

Post by TacoBill »

Disclaimer: This was put together by myself, and not the PC. This has nothing to do with them, other than the fact that I'm posting it on their boards here.

So if any of you guys played LotR, you know that the DGMA would run these before every major Rings tournament (ie Origins, Worlds, etc). You guys already know how this works. For those that dont, I'll explain. You have 100 points. Out of those 100 points, you can pick 3-5 people. Those 3-5 people can not have a total point value over 100. Then we wait to see where everyone finishes at worlds. After worlds, the place you finished is the score you will be assigned. Only the 3 best scores will be counted from each team. Whoever picks the 'team' with the lowest score, wins. If you pick someone and they end up not making day 2, their score will count as a 30, so likely you're pretty much out of the running. Same if you pick someone who doesn't end up going. I'll do an example at the bottom, but first, here are everyone's assigned values.

Argue all you want over these, but I was asking for information and no one gave me anything, so the list is probably a little biased towards the east coast, because those are the people I know.

Alright, like I said, you may pick 3-5 people with a total point value up to 100. So lets say I pick Schele (30), Chu (45), myself (15), and Brownell (10). By some miracle, Kafer wins worlds (ha!), Chu places 4th, Schele places 5th, and Brownell finishes 19th. My team's score would be 10 (1 +4 + 5). Kevin's score would be dropped, because he wasn't in the top 3 for my team.

Maybe I'll give something away to the winner, I'll see what I have laying around (Masterful Move foil anyone?). For now assume you'll get something. Please either PM me with your entries, or e-mail them to JerseyMuscle17@comcast.net. If I'm on AIM you can give them to me there, my AIM is AGlassCaseOfEmo. One entry per person. Please have them to me before Day 1 starts. Anyway, have fun with it.

Paying for these guys is like being the owner of the New York Yankees. Can I write myself in for 0, since I'm not going?

frenchs are a bad bet unless you're going to figure in the massive prizes we'll be winning in LA for playing VS one month later. especially since we're not going to worlds. maybe next year...

one of my oldest dream card ideas was for a blockade flagship: conference room that said dioxis is destiny +3.

even then i'd make fun of people who played it.

Hard to gauge.
I'm sure however that me being ONLY in the "20" bracket is too good to pass by. 8)

However, usually I prefer not to vote for myself, since that way, if i make a good result at WC06, I'm still happy, and if I don't, i have a better chance at scoring well at this Fantasy Worlds. :)

But "20"... wow come on... that's a steal. I guess i'll definitively vote for myself.

It may be just me but has anyone else noticed Team Stephensville is falling apart that are taking shots at each other.

Man...this was tough. I had to go with a few odd picks...and a few hopes for people who are going to be there. I think this team could very well bomb when 2 of the 4 don't show...
Its been fun. Thanks guys.

This is awful that potential judges could participate in this contest. It could lead to miscalculated judging and keep some vocal people out of day 3 like last year

Yeah, plus what's with the Aglets pick? I'm calling shenanigans, and just assuming the actual team he sent in a PM includes better players(well, Reid can still be included).

Actually, I find it expected. And honestly I'm not sure i'd have it any other way.

Wow, way to not so subtlely question Mike Carr's integrity.

Good call Booker. Would this be where you are asking to help the PC? Or just pointing out something you think is a mistake in the most inflammatory manner possible?

Oh please...whatever Booker...whatever..

Edit:

I have not submitted anything to the contest and at no point do I intend to be part of the contest. I really could care less about winning. I am just trying to have fun. For pete's sake, can't I have picks as well? I mean hell, last year my picks would have been Reid, Justin, Eier, and Alden for top 4 possibilities of finishing first.

I do take offense to my integrity being called into question when you know that I do everything in my power to be as honest and straightforward as possible. Last year, when it was one of my local's in the final against you, I excused myself from judging Worlds because of any possibility of there being any taint on the final game.

Reflection:

The miscalculation from last year that he is referring to is my miscalculation in the final to last game where I missed adding 2 victory points to Bookers score sheet. This allowed DDM to slip in at #8 and we announced it as such. Booker then called Shenanigans and I realized my addition error and corrected it on the spot, shoving DDM out of #8. This was not one of my finer moments last year and is one of many things I really want to forget because I have never felt so awful with this game as that screw up.

For the record, there was no great scheme or coverup to try to keep Booker out of the top 8 last year. Despite what Booker is trying to imply.
Its been fun. Thanks guys.

I think Booker was being ironic...
Especially since the only guy who happened to be totally screwed last years at Worlds was me. And I don't remember myself as being "vocal". :D
