Will this event involve seeds? How do we establish seed numbers? Hunter's decktech articles?

You guys call it, I'll help sponsor it as well. I won't run it, since I would love a chance to participate in a big event in New York City.

If it's not an official championship event. TDs could play in the event.

Wouldnt be bad, but like 75% of the people on the lists dont play anymore.

Might be better to just totally randomize it

Damn, if only someone kept the BCS standings going....

Maybe taco bill could tally up the votes for fantasy worlds? sorta a pseudo coach's poll? In case of a tie, tie breaker is real performance in worlds 2006?

Ergh...neutral ground? Ouch for costs and drive. Since I agreed to run the event and all...

Which means I can only screw up what, 6 rulings all day? Mispair twice?

Wait its match play. That means no mispairings.

Sweet!
Its been fun. Thanks guys.

How you going to set up who gets paired with who??

And that idea that we use Hunter's articles is bad.... maybe we should ask the current world champ, who beat hunter, and isn't on the list, make the new list...or the pc.... or make it random, which is better.

Why does it matter to you Sokol? Aren't you just going to tease everyone by saying your going to come then at the last minute disappoint everyone by dropping out?

The above post was in no way influenced by the fact that you didn't come to worlds...

I tallyed the fantasy picks, but as I was doing it, i realized that a lot of peeps were chosen for their point value which skews things a bit.

If this match play event is going to go, I think we should seed the pairings with a similar poll. Players vote for 1, 2, and 3, and then we rank 'em up.

So, if I vote...

Meeker
Smith
Eier

Meeker would get 3 points, Smith 2, and Eier 1

and the tallying would go on...

It could cause some interesting votes though, Team Ohio likely would not vote for their dudes because they want low seeds. So, people would like vote for others outside their group...

I'm not sure how else they could be seeded, and random seems hokie. I'll tally it all up, if the organizers like this approach...

How about a 4 game swiss tournament for seedings the day before?

Might be too much or too random.

Otherwise I would say you just draw names and go from there.

The fact that I can play with Team "Insert name here" means I can actually play my decks.

I would like to see brackets with double elimination. So you get a bracket of 32 for example with the losers playing in the losers bracket.

You get the winner of both brackets playing (but the winner of the winner's bracket needing 2 matchplay losses to lose).

By the way, is match play a final duel between 2 players?

I think matchplay would be fun, but matchups will play a big role in how this turns out.

If its really going to be a big tourney, ever think of doing something like day 2 and day 3 of worlds from last year.

Let the first day deside how people get ranked and than do matchplay the next day. THat way you can cut the field for the next day. And than maybe hold a v-lite or something for those who don't make the second day.
