I am sure I'll be helping Scott look for locations for stuff this year on the East Coast...Don't worry, it will definitely be near a major airport and easily accessible from the highway for people driving too.

With the MPC also being out this way, I know one of them will be a little more accessible to the MD/VA people and one a little more to the NY/MA people.

(don't ask which, we don't know yet)

plenty of important players live out west(if not on the actual coast), like the last 2 world champs, Kevin Shannon and Brian Hunter

also guys like the Frenches, Jan Westergaard, Aaron Nelson, Advocate Chris Shoenthal, etc

the problem is the spread out nature of the west where a 3 hour drive doesnt mean you drive through 3+ states

Having tried and failed to run a large west coast event for three years running, I actually agree with Schele's sentiment unfortunately.

That's cool :) We are definitely still going to keep trying, and we will have fun out here no matter how many we get, but Worlds out here seems like a bad idea.

ya, the west is just so spread out that its hard.

The CO locals have people driving 4-5 hours to get to, and the CA locals seem about the same. Then you start talking about getting big events and its hard to get the numbers together because driving to any of the playgroups is a huge commitment.
Well, Bye.

thanks for the mention quesojerry, but nobody should really count me as living anywhere, cause i dont even know where i will be in 3 weeks let alone 3 months, i guess im sorta the nomadic swccg player. that said i agree with the east coast being better than west by virtue of it being less spread out and having more players. though i would also support a european worlds at anytime just cause it'd be awesome to go there (especially if somebodys got a place i can crash)

europe!

they deserve it.

and will fund it totally themselves (meaning less states/regionals fees for us that year and/or we can stockpile oney for bigger prizes for the next few years)

Worlds 2010 will not be in Europe.
and will fund it totally themselves (meaning people won't even bother going to states/regionals events because they don't need byes)
Fixed that for you.

Sounds like I need to start a separate thread for San Diego though!

mm maybe some attendance will go down, but more free events could get people going. free or cheap regionals = might help attendance a bit. i think people like to play star wars, so they'd go even without needing a bye.

no reason to go b/c no imaginary prestige, etc b/c events aren't held b/c no one needs byes. also why pay to travel to free events that don't matter when you are trying to muster the money to go to europe (if that can happen). Pretty tough to pull off. Might also kill attendence at larger events b/c there is less to play for.
