worlds could be made a LOT smaller- but still increase participation.
essentially, i think that a 8-12 day 3 type playoff for the world championship would be awesome.

but, what if we spread out days 1-2 as qualifiers all over the world?

consider this scheme:

worlds day 3 is 12 players.

4 are the winners of 4 majors: mpc, texas, us nationals, euro nationals

4 are the next top 4 player points winners- basically winning lots of states/regionals and such gains you points

4 are open and play a last chance qualifier the day before day 3

so anyway like we could pay for the flights of the top 8 guys out of prizes and stuff for all the lead up events

------------------

If worlds were in Europe.... I would regret being retired
and those 12 should have a 2 day thing.. first 6 game swiss, cut to top 4, then new decks the next day top 4 match play?

also day 3 should be in LA so the winner can go straight to disneyland.

brad eier just blew my mind. sounds like a great suggestion!

Also, if normal worlds was in europe, I would definitely be interested in going. They should get it in 2011.

Like people are going to commit the money to two worlds-type events in the span of one month? Not a chance.

Obviously a small handful might, ie brian herold, but not more than 5-10 max.
Who cares? Do you REALLY think that more than 10 US players would attend the event in Europe ANYway? I would be VERY surprised if they could draw double-digits from America.
I care...

How many attenting US-players would be necessary to host the SWCCG World Championship in Europe in your oppinion?

Contrary:

How many attending non-US-players would be necessary to host the SWCCG World Championship in the US in your oppinion?

@swccguy, Throdo and everyone else who would be interested in attending Worlds in Europe: Thank you, and you would not regret! (Brad, I think you could make up an excuse to (partially) come back from retirement for Worlds in Europe?...)

I've been meaning to comment on this, but with 4 pages of content there's a lot to cover... I'll try to address it at some point, but there are MAJOR hurdles that would have to be cleared before I'd be okay with it.

I'm long overdue for a return trip to Europe, so if Worlds was there that would be a fine excuse! Just make sure it's easily accessible by train. What? You're telling me every city in Europe is easily accessible by train? Why can't we figure that one out?!?
