Inside Scoop
Well... for those of you who don't know. I'll be suspending the after school program here in Rosemount after this year. It wasn't an easy decision for me to make. I've been doing this for 16 years now and I'm proud to look back at those 16 years with fondness and and an admiration for what we've accomplished here in Rosemount. For a vast majority of those years I was simply a guy in the background supporting his local community and providing an after school activity for students who were looking for something different during their middle school years. Honestly it was only the last 5 years my role in the community grew as some of the local players were looking to retire their SWCCG career. I'd like to say I've learned a lot from this exercise and hope to take that knowledge into the next venture. There are many former students now who have come through this program and I have had the pleasure of seeing their continued growth and it's been fun experiencing their life changes with them even after they've left my classroom: ranging from marriage, to getting their driver's license. Without a doubt the most satisfying part of the program for myself has been the countless number of parents who have thanked me for giving their child this opportunity. They have truly seemed grateful for introducing their child to our community. This is why I encourage all of you who have similar opportunities to do the same in your state. Not for the game but for chance you'll be giving young adults to socialize, compete, and grow as humans.

Now some of my players were really worried when I announced this to them, but here's the deal: I'm not retiring. I'll I'm doing is changing my focus. When the PC did the LT 2 years ago, I started to think about trying to expand on that. I want to bring more people from the actual MN community into SWCCG. I'll be hopefully working in close ties with a local store and holding weekly events (learning/playing). Pretty much the same concept, just open to the public and not school focused. Now I'm not so naive to think this is going to be a major player draw and a massive explosion to the community, in fact from the LT 2 years ago we only had 2 actual new players (who still come to our events) and a few returning players from Wisconsin, but that's not what I'm going to judge success on. Who knows... maybe another 16 years from now I'll be making a similar post and be thanking only 2 more new players. I don't care, and won't have any regrets.

I'd like to thank everyone out there who's made our Rosemount program the success story it is today. All of you and the PC deserve credit, cause without you this would not have been possible.

So we still have the Bespin Super Weekend left this season. Let's have fun, play some new V-Set 4 stuff, and I'll see all of you at Worlds. So help me, I'd like to finally beat Jonny Chu  .

Updates will be posted here in this thread.

Thank you for all that you have done for the game! I always enjoy looking at the various events you run to get ideas for fun formats, and look forward to seeing what new ideas you come up with as your focus shifts from Rosemount to the whole MN playing community!

Put your money where your mouth is, come here and say thanks in person. Unless you're chicken.

The problem with this plan is that it requires that I get to LAX.

What, are there other places in Southern California? I dunno where you are. How far is San Diego from LA? 20 minutes?

It looks like worlds is once again off the table for me. Found out about some work commitments coming up that should leave me unable to travel to worlds. So the bye that I *obviously* was going to win can be passed down to someone else. :-)

Mark- I love that you are expanding the program to include MN and the greater community. I think this is a long time coming and I know you're the right person for this gig! See you Saturday!

Probably just means Walseth hasn't sent the info yet. I can do it but the TD should be the one to do it.
