I may have to borrow that one, heh.

*insert republican's reaction to the Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez dancing video*
I literally lol'd when I watched the video of her dancing, it is the most disgustingly wholesome thing I've ever seen. But at least we've confirmed that republican representatives are all the old people from Footloose.

Re: President Trump
who are these republican representatives who criticized her for having danced? whenever i look up the story i just see articles about how ridiculous it is that people criticized her for this, but, what people? where and when did this criticism actually happen?
Re: President Trump
Yeah I haven't seen a single Republican criticize the dancing.WiseMarsellus wrote:who are these republican representatives who criticized her for having danced? whenever i look up the story i just see articles about how ridiculous it is that people criticized her for this, but, what people? where and when did this criticism actually happen?
Apparently some anonymous Twitter account shared the video, attacked her, got banned...….and that's how it all started. The actual Twitter handle was "AnonymousQ."
Worked out incredibly well for her the way it's being reported by the media. Thanks to Tom for bringing this up, no doubt if a conservative did it would be worse 'optics.'
I actually think the original share most likely came from the DNC or some organized Internet trolling operation.

Re: President Trump
i buy this even less. i have a much easier time accepting that someone is dumb enough to think that constituted an attack on her than accepting someone is smart enough to "attack" her in this way, have it "backfire", and get away with itAglets wrote:I actually think the original share most likely came from the DNC or some organized Internet trolling operation.
Re: President Trump
Ah it was a QAnon page. See I was trying to be friendly by saying it was "republican representatives" and not republicans themselves, when all I had seen was people like my ultra conservative grandmother and other fox newsies posting on fb about how she's obviously not fit for the job, etc.
So I amend my statement. Just total idiots getting riled up over nothing and giving her a bunch of free press.
QAnon is pretty ridiculous though. Their motto should be "turning everyone's run-of-the-mill * relatives into full blown conspiracy theorist nut jobs!"

Isn't Anonymous basically an anarchist group?

I believe it was Anonymous in the normal sense of the word, nothing to do with that group.Aglets wrote:Isn't Anonymous basically an anarchist group?

Re: President Trump
oh that could be why i haven't seen anything of it. i didn't realize the outrage thing was happening on facebook. i feel like the articles i read did a pretty poor job of reporting on thisvhstapes wrote:Ah it was a QAnon page. Re: President Trump
Anonymous was basically a bunch of hackers who weren't affiliated in any official capacity, that would do funny * for the lulz. There was no group, it was just whoever was in on the hack at the time.Aglets wrote:Isn't Anonymous basically an anarchist group?
Then a bunch of try-hards got really into the V mask and made it like an actual thing you could be a part of, completely defeating the original purpose.
These days I wouldn't call them anarchists, more like hackers who are upset with the status quo. I'd wager that the majority of them are more communist/socialist leaning than anarchists.

Re: President Trump
Adam Baldwin, the conservative actor, retweeted it with a mocking comment. He has since deleted it, but that was the (at least) one conservative who fell for it which gave the media carte blanche to run with all these stories. No doubt the tweet was from an AOC fan and it was posted as as a trip wire for the right and one fell for it.Aglets wrote:Yeah I haven't seen a single Republican criticize the dancing.WiseMarsellus wrote:who are these republican representatives who criticized her for having danced? whenever i look up the story i just see articles about how ridiculous it is that people criticized her for this, but, what people? where and when did this criticism actually happen?

Re: President Trump
Yea going after AOC for her identity, her dancing, her educational background or whatever.....all stupid and ridiculous fool's errands. Shame on anyone on the right falling for that and trying identity politics garbage.
If you just focus on the actual things she says or claims about politics there is plenty of better material.

Re: President Trump
Here's a good one. Not sure how many people saw her on 60 minutes yesterday.....but this is telling and quite chilling to me:
"There's a lot of people more concerned about being precisely, factually, and semantically correct than about being morally right."
This was in response to a question about criticism she's faced for making factual errors.
Wish the follow up was about which of her moral beliefs are most based on incorrect facts.

That's extremely disappointing to hear"There's a lot of people more concerned about being precisely, factually, and semantically correct than about being morally right."
