What's a dozen? You mean 3/5ths of a score?

Just say 12.
learned something about this recently, evidently it's part of a remnant of a base-12 counting system in old english (anglo saxon). came up in the Tolkien podcast I listen to when they were talking about Bilbo's "eleventy-first" birthday and how tolkien didn't create that word like most people think. also why english Eleven and Twelve are so different from all the other numbers up to 20 that end in "-teen".

i don't remember the exact episode but it was either 95 or 96 here. for the history of base 12 in old english/germanic languages, there's lots of talk around the internet about it.

Bruce Springsteen's plastic surgery. Seems to go against his very nature. But as much as I like his music, it seems like he is below average intelligence outside of music and poetry. Good autobiography though.

Also get the savant vibe from Robert Deniro.

Do you feel this about portmanteaus in general, or just this one?

Another Star Wars related one (and actually rational): Kal'Falnl C'ndros
I hate that a really, really good card and basically one of the staples of the game, mostly in the early years and especially in PANH format is a "character" that is basically a blurry pair of legs that nobody knows or barely remembers from the movie.

I do love that this card game has all those characters and minutia from the movie, and I like that you can play all the silly scenarios with the cool background guys that really make this game feel like it is fully in the Star Wars universe, but for literally one of the least known characters to be in battle with Han Solo and Obi Wan in nearly every game (and played way way more than main characters like C-3PO) it is just kind of sad from a thematic perspective. Then the fact that her name is completely unpronounceable and abbreviates to KFC is just the worst.

Just this one in particular. Certainly some percentage of my annoyance stems from me being a “defender” of monnok/grimtaash, while grimnock seems, anecdotally at least, to be used mainly by those who don’t like the cards

Then maybe theres a deeper part in that while they are identical in function, they are not the same inasmuch as the combo variants (especially with crush being startable). And then historically even with the identical printed text, within the context of certain eras one or the other may have been more powerful

Super douchey and humblebraggish...and i've also complained about rap skits before.

But when you're in the middle of a bench press and the skit is long and uninteresting and you lose focus.
