Re: Irrational Pet Peeves? List em here!
I love soup (lots of different kinds) too! Glad to see some fans here.
As a devil's advocate (I try to avoid these when discussing serious matters, but in discussions like this find them appropriate) question: What would the answer be if someone's favorite food was "soup," but then if they were asked a question similar to the one shawn asked Joe, or the ever-popular "If you could only eat one food the rest of your life, what would it be?", and their answer was not a soup? Like, for me, I'll choose soups over non-soups in a decent number of situations, but if I had to have exactly one food, the same meal, every time for the rest of my life, I wouldn't choose a soup because part of what I like in soup is the variety.

I think it's reasonable for someone's "favorite food" to be different than "the one food you'd eat forever." They're two different questions.imrahil327 wrote: ↑December 25th, 2020, 6:26 amI love soup (lots of different kinds) too! Glad to see some fans here.

Someone might love steak, but not want that to be their only food or whatever.
Aka peak food experience != best indefinite repeat food experience.

Feel like peak soup has a lower ceiling than almost any other group. Peak sandwich is heaven.arebelspy wrote: ↑December 25th, 2020, 11:36 amI think it's reasonable for someone's "favorite food" to be different than "the one food you'd eat forever." Peak soup, yes.
I'd rather have sushi.
But average soup, of various kinds? Quite high. Much higher than average sandwich of various kinds.
And most soup floors are decent.

I'll concede soup floor isn't as low as sandwich floor. But the thought of cheese soup makes me gag.

Really? You need to get some good beer cheese soup then, it's bomb. At one of our local breweries, it's the only item I order.

Would rather eat the arm of a leper than beer cheese. Can't even go to a restaurant that serves it, since the smell is so revolting to me.imrahil327 wrote: ↑December 25th, 2020, 4:46 pmReally? I'm aware of the end product known as beer cheese (and it's nausea inducing scent), I just don't know its ingredients.

My local grocery store (supermarket, not a mom and pop) only offering nonfat greek yogurt because people still believe this is the healthy option based on junk research funded by sugar companies decades ago.

People who say "not gonna lie" and then state something that no one would ever lie about.
