Kanye - Beautiful Dark Twisted
D'angelo - Black Messiah

Can't believe that I forgot D'Angelo. Love the Kanye record, but I think it's my 3rd or 4th favorite (Yeezus grew on me) Also, I love Lost in the Dream, but I think I give a slight edge to A Deeper Understanding. Either way, I have really embraced both albums in the last few months.

I haven't listened to the D'Angelo for a while, but holy * was it awesome when it dropped (and for some time after that). When they pre-released Thinking of a Place I listened to it on repeat for a long time. A Deeper Understanding was good, but not great like Lost in the Dream (which I've listened to an embarrassing number of times). I prefer Slave Ambient to A Deeper Understanding now (I Was There and Come to the City are outstanding tracks). I respect more than like most of Kanye's work from the 2010s. He really continued to push and innovate, but lost me after Dark Twisted. I'm now thinking you're right, Orange was better than Blonde.

I'm with Bill here, for us Emo loving fans, it's been a rough decade. Without a record label like Drive-Thru that got almost all the bands I like together, it's been rough. I didn't know most of the bands Jerry mentioned. (Love Alkaline Trio but can't stand Bayside's lead singers voice)

I'd say Panic at the Disco gets my Best of the Decade award. Maybe Manchester Orchestra or Brand New.

It didn't help that Something Corporate went Pop with Andrew Mcmahon going solo.

Brand New had some amazing releases, got to #1 finally, then got caught up in a sex scandal that ended them (still love following his wife on Instagram, she's really cool). They would probably be my #1 listened to band the past decade.

Jimmy Eat World had some good releases.

Blink's last two albums were solid.

Going through what I've added on Spotify over the past two years, it's mainly been 70's era rock, 90's era rap, Say Anything/Less Than Jake/Punk or more Adventure Club/Porter Robinson EDM type of music.

Smashing Pumpkins is still my favorite band of all time and they had some releases but nothing that really breaks up their 90's era music.

Third Eye Blind has made a big comeback and is so much fun in concert. Some of their newer music is really good, Dopamine for starters is a solid album.

Eve 6 had one release that was good and saw them in concert, that was a blast.

New Found Glory and Taking Back Sunday have had releases this decade with TBS having some really good songs. Sum 41 really fell off.

My wife says Lizzo as her favorite of the decade, she said it's how she feels on the inside. Her favorite musician is Missy E and Lizzo has been the closest she has found to the same power that Missy brings in her music. Followed by Sia, Cardi B and Adele. The XX's was the only actual CD she bought this year because she liked them so much. While she doesn't care for T-Swift, she says she easily wins the decade for the number of hits and releases.

It's very DIY Singer/Songwriter type stuff.
