By the way, I read a couple minutes ago this very, VERY interesting article from the 70s: he casually spoilt the fact that Darth Vader is Luke's father at an interview 2 years before The Empire Strikes Back came out, was it the norm back then?

Regarding that article, it conflicts with the "fun fact" I've always heard, which is that Prowse was given an incorrect line ("Obi-Wan killed your father") to help keep it a secret from most of the cast and crew. Only the people with James Earl Jones in the sound studio would get to hear the correct line.

That kind of sounds like Prowse was joking about the future plot point, and I've also heard that only James Earle Jones and Mark Hamill knew about Vader being Luke's father. Part of me wonders if George read this article and thought "that's a good idea."

Sounds a bit like Alec Guinness not being amused at his character getting killed and having so little to do in V and VI.
Lucas made the right move not budging to egos, as great as these folks were.

Prowse, a towering body builder, gave Vader the right physical presence. His job was simple, but essential and I love how the movements with his fist and his other body language compensate for not seeing a face.
