Well no matter were i end up in the turnement : "the rebound boyz (Out day 2)" or "The tough player dudes" who went on to day 2.

Players will find them self playing against one the few who really masters the game "DRUNKEN STYLE" like a shao lin munk at his best in a huge barrel of German über beer.

So beware and be ready couse if you are playing at the same table as me? youre only playing if you get your drink on!
Ofc. if yo're bigger that me, like Chris, my threats will not be so severe, couse ill get my ass whupped :epic:

But no matter what, welcome to the fun table my fellow nerdy players :P YEAH!!!

When Chris passed by the sign of 'Hannover', he thought he read 'Hangover' and decided to live there.

Re: Euro Worlds Info

Post by Shadow 14 »

We have about 4-5 different posts asking Americans, if they’ll come to Euro Worlds or not.
I will post this message in all these posts now, and hope to get the ball rolling.

Please enter your name in this list, if you’re not living in Europe, and are playing with the thought of coming to Euro Worlds:

http://doodle.com/muri8tsp9xig5te5

I will proceed as follows:

1) Wait till the end of this month to see how many people are entering the list and are actually interested at all (regardless of date).

2) As a next step, I would ask those guys, if they prefer October or summer.

3) If it is a close call I might do a poll to include the already qualified Europeans.

There are currently only 5 guys on the list (Chris Gogolen, Jonny Chu, Cole Lepine, Mike Kessling, Jim Li), but I’m missing tons of other guys.

The following people had interest, but I’m still missing them on the list (thanks aermet69 for the help):
John Anderson, Michael Richards, Adam Howland, Brad Eier, and lots more.

We have talked to a lot more guys at Worlds who were at least interested in coming (Robbie Hendon, Jan and Chris Westergarde, Chris Schoenthal, Keith Brown, and others). Please let me know if I’m wrong, and also enter the list. There are more guys I remember talking to about Euro Worlds, but I’m not sure if they actually wanted to come or not.

I know some of you are reluctant to “commit” to write your name already, but you’re not committing to anything yet. If you have to win the lottery or rob a bank to make it, you’re probably really not right on the list. If it’s just mortal concerns (saving money, convincing ladies, getting free from work, summer or October), then we would love to hear from you.

From the States I would consider it a "yes".

Right now I'm in the middle of stock keeping/financial year stuff. I will do a poll next week, or if somebody wants to do it in doodle and the Euro group, or here, please feel free.

October is confirmed. Just the weekend 12-14 or 19-21 is the question.
Which weekend would you like EuroWorlds to be on? Vote Now!

I have set up the doodle poll - all those intending to attend please vote using this link:

As an additional info to what Paul posted here:

It has been decided that Euro Worlds will be in October 2012, we are just not sure about the date yet.

Either the 12-14 October as proposed before.

OR the 19-21 October 2012 (the same weekend Essen is).

We are currently in favor of this latter weekend, because it would give players from outside of Germany the opportunity to combine 2 Germany events, and have more time for other travels.

The agenda would be something like this:

18 October (Thursday): Collective trip to the Essen fair with Chris

19 October (Friday): Collective trip to the Essen fair with Angelo, while Chris does Day 1 qualifiers in Bochum.

20 October (Saturday): Day 2 in Bochum

21 October (Sunday): Day 3 and Consolation event in Bochum (whoever doesn't want to play could also go to Essen)

We really believe that's best for the visitors, but if most of you are saying "I need 4 whole days in Essen" then I wouldn't do it.

SO PLEASE VOTE IN THE POLL. HERE IS THE LINK AGAIN:

http://www.doodle.com/i64iufn7k69nfvrs

Thanks. I will announce the official date as soon as we have enough votes in.

Just to keep you guys updated. I'm trying to get the Essen weekend, but it looks bad.
They already have another event sceduled for Saturday. I'm trying to get them to switch, but it doesn't look too good. I will also try to get space on the fair itself, but it will take some more time.
The guys at the location want to get back to me this week and the exhibition guys next week.

Is anybody urgently waiting to book their flights already?

The date for Euro Worlds is set. We won’t change it again. You may book your flights.

12-14 October 2012 is Euro Worlds

15-18 October 2012 we are planning a small round trip in Europe for our visitors

18 or 19 October 2012 we will offer a guided trip to the Essen Spiel fair

20-28 October 2012 we could offer more Euro trips for the visitors staying longer

So, that’s what we have planned for you. We really tried to make the Essen date possible, but it was just not supposed to be. The location (Zu Den Vier Winden) has another large event on that weekend, and Angelo and I could just not make them switch. The alternatives (Essen exhibition fair ground, old tourney location Falkenheim, etc) were either too expensive or would close at a certain point.

We were left with the choice to either offer you a well prepared Worlds on the original date, or an organization nightmare on the Essen weekend, so we decided for the first. I’m sorry for all those who would have preferred the Essen weekend (I would have preferred that myself), but we hope that the above schedule still allows you to do both.

For all those already qualified (American, Australians, Singaporians):

If your flight arrives anytime on the 12th October (Day 1) and leaves on the 19th (better 20th) October, you will be able to play at Euro Worlds, visit the Essen fair, and see something from Europe. We will try to keep the small round trip at low cost, since we know that cash is an issue for several of you.
For those of you, that are able to stay a week longer, we will offer a second tour after Essen. Angelo will handle Worlds Day 1 (12th October) and will help you with everything up to that point, since he’s a local. I have the 2 weeks (13-28 October) off from work, and will work on several smaller trips, so that you guys can decide to do this trip or that, depending on how much money you have left.

For now, I can recommend booking your flights to arrive in Bochum (or Cologne, Duesseldorf, Dortmund, Frankfurt) on 12th October (you would leave the States on the 11th then), and stay as long as you can. If you can make 1 week possible, we should be able to show you some nice stuff.
Bring girls, wives, and children!

Cool, though I actually meant the 'forum title'. The one that you can see when you are at the root. Where there is a forum for the MPC and US Nationals as well. :)
