idk about that, but it looksl ike we will be 4 seeds and thats pretty telling as we are awful these days

i mean there are some big names on there, but a lot of the list... i was expecting it to be a "whos who" of swccg, and its more of a "whos that?" if you will

I gotta agree with Brad on this. The top 10 look to be very strong, but then there doesn't really seem to be much depth after that. I'll be honest, there are probably 20 people in this field I've never heard of.

A very encouraging fact. Getting older players back into the game is always a good thing. I won't speculate as to whether this had something to do with the format change or they just dusted off their cards and wanted to play again.

Yeah, I was counting Hayes in that top 10. But Scott's post brings me to another question I've been wondering about. Is this average "scrub" today better than the average scrub in 2001? Like, ten years ago there were thousands of people playing this game, most of them at the local level, most of whom would never travel to events and play against 1 or 2 top players in their life.

Today, everyone plays against everyone, everyone travels, and the majority of players left over from back in the day were upper tier players back in the day. A much higher percentage of the player base is made up by elite level players now than it was 10 years ago. I'm pretty much an average player these days (and I didn't play 10 years ago) but would I have been a higher level player in 2001 due to weaker competition? And it works the other way too. Would a lot of these old-school players who I'm sure were "above average" back in the day be only so-so players in todays game.

I'm imagining Advocate going all "he who must not be named" and calling their houses repeatedly until they agreed to show up.

Let's give Scott some credit, he has enough self restraint that he would stop calling after the 15th time.

Don't be surprised when some of those "scrubs" beat you up on their way. They'll play in an unconventional way and that will throw some of average/better players off.

Fair warning to those in my pod, I'm packing complete goof cards. You need to bring all of your shields and cancelers.

i've texted scott, pm'd him. i don't know if I have to pay to be on the alternate list or if I can just be put on it. I'm going either way, to do coverage or play -- maybe they just want the coverage? I have no clue.
