Quotes of the weekend

Post by Meto »

For posterity and those that weren't there.

Someone during liar's dice, "How come Matt never gets *?"

Matt, "I ask myself that every Saturday night."

"I was blackout drunk and shot Hunter."

Ray Bordier to me during sealed event: "Everything you've done this entire game has been nothing but a slap in my face."

That secret squirrel sealed event was probably the most fun I've had playing swccg in a long time.

Cole Lepine and the CBT.

So, Baroni and Cole are playing their game. It's super tense; Steve got the TW +5 in the first game, and now it's Cole's Walkers vs. Steve's Communing, and there's 15 minutes or less remaining. Cole ended up getting down to two cards in hand, and Mike Gemme (doing the chatcast) says something like, "man, if the CBT would let there be a LS Limited Resources, that'd be game over here!"

Cole smirks, and says, "Hey, wait... I'm on the CBT! I can make that happen!"

Baroni: "What's the CBT?"

Gemme: "The competitive balance team... the guys who are supposed to make sure the two sides are balanced."

Baroni: (looks up at Cole) "Wow, you must really * suck at your job!"

Cole and everyone standing around the game proceed to laugh their asses off for about a full minute.

Either right before or right after this happened, Baroni had Shmi at the cantina by herself, so Cole plays Darth Vader (v), battles, and kills shmi, and Brian Herold says something to the effect of "why would he do that to his mom?" And then, to top it all off, the next turn, Steve is activating, and says "please tell me he's not that stupid. I wish he was a scrub." He drops down, misses with chewie, draws destiny, and clears vader. From then on, all that Baroni wanted was to know whether or not Cole had had the ghhhk.

Cole and everyone standing around the game proceed to laugh their asses off for about a full minute.

And then there are other people who walk out literally saying that was the worst movie I've ever seen. Having those two extremes to me is the mark of the type of movie that I want to make.

Alleged conversation I only heard about secondhand:

Shannon McRandle is about to sign a swccg player's Arica.

SWCCG Player: Don't sign over your legs. That's the best part.

Shannon McRandle: I'm not sure what my husband would have to say about that.

SWCCG Player: He'd agree with me.

That's about the jist of it, though I'd be upset if I spoke that robotically.

Ha! I took some liberties because I wasn't sure the Gemme charm/sass would come through correctly online or if it'd make you sound like a bad guy instead.

That was brutal. I felt so bad about laughing, but the odds that it would go down like that were ridiculous.

BTW, outside of the Baroni/Cole interaction the other funniest thing from the weekend wasn't really a quote... it was Fred retrieving his 40 oz from a shrubbery like a *' hobo on the way back from dinner :P

Jan: "Brad Eier's not my dad!"

He would be better equipped to add context to that than me.

Honestly, knowing it was you is the only thing that makes that quote acceptable/funny. I first read it and went "oh, no... that didn't actually happen, did it?" Then I read more and went, "oh, it was Gemme. LOL."

haha

basically it was the consolation event, with me playing vs jan and old man westergard next to us playing a match. there was something involving immunity or imperial command or whatever but the jist of it was that old man westergard didnt know abyss was the card that worked for substituted destinies or something.

jan sees this and sees the discussion, and casually mentions it to his dad. the opponent was a little miffed at this, and asked that others not comment on the game. he then said "i wouldnt comment on your game and help out brad eier" or something to that effect, to which jan responded "yeah but brad eiers not my dad"

they all kissed and made up afterwards so i think all butthurt from the incident is over
