We're paying for the space. In general they don't really care one bit about what we're doing, as long as it's not illegal and we're not disturbing other guests.

not gonna try and quote Casey here because im posting from my phone and the mere thought of trying that makes me want to stab a puppy with a narwhale horn.

I don't expect a lot of travelers here. Nationals hasn't gotten many travelers in the past few years so I am instead trying to do what will draw the largest amount of locals. Because if you were willing to travel for the tournament where exactly it is in MN is probably less of a concern.

I am hearing a lot of blowback about doing it at the school from locals but what I hear from out of owners is that they don't care. I'll go this week to look at the hotel space I found for $150/day. If it is big enough for us I'll get it. If not I think I'd lean towards rms simply because wed get a better turnout from the kids and the $250+ more that we would be spending isn't worth it.

I say hotel but I'd like to hear more outsiders commit before I start screaming it. We can have super weekend at Rosemount
Thanks!

This. I think a Super Weekend would be awesome at Rosemount... a celebration of Mark's efforts... and this event will gather more people due to it's regional closeness and partnership with our North Dakota Bretheren.

I say get this done near the MOA at some AmericInn-type hotel party room adjacent to a pool for a quick dip between rounds...

DAMN... "Jem" was usually on in the PM when I was getting home from school... had to watch it until GI Joe and Transformers were on... This version of Jem is so much more entertaining...

SoCal Grand Prix part deux was held in a game store and it worked out well I think. Granted, I won't be going to this, but if I were, as long as there are options for hotels close enough to the store, then I would support that or something in/near the MOA.

I am trying to arrange my schedule to come to this. Are the dates in the thread title correct? I haven't been following since page 2 and don't really have the eyes to make it through pg 7.

I don't care where we play, but somewhere where there is no or minimal cost would be better, esp. if the point is to get most of the money in prize support to the kids.

Has anyone worked the angle of getting the space at a discounted price due to the publicity Mark was talking about? Often, especially when there are students involved, it is possible to get space real cheap ... 8>

Any advice to out of towners considering the event... which airport? Hotels?

Minneapolis basically only has one airport - the code is MSP.

As for hotels I would wait until we officially announce the location. If it's at a hotel that hotel would be the best. If it's not, then probably any hotel around the airport would be good.

Garrett/Mark, any update on location?
