JUNE 8th - 10th:
The Smoking Gungan wrote:friday: random fun event like team or sealed that evening
saturday: nationals day 1 (open to everyone. basically everyone playing on saturday would be playing in nats)
sunday: top 4 from nationals AND rosemount invitational held simultaneously (so everyone other than the top 4 are playing in the RI)
what do people think about holding two tourneys on friday, one around noon and one in the evening? the idea is that anyone who wants to go to the twins game in the evening could still attend the early tourney, and anyone who has to work during the early tourney could go to the later one. if you're hardcore and your schedule allows it, you would be free to attend both events. i'd envision that the events would have different formats (e.g. team for the early one, sealed or cube for the late one), but that could be decided later.

basically, if there is a swccg'er trip to a twins games i'd probably want to go to that over the evening tourney, so i'd like to add the early one to still get some games in

I have no dog in the fight, but please don't do this. Whatever you guys decide on, be upfront about it. *If* out of towners fly in, (and honestly I have my doubts about how many would) people absolutely will be upset if they were lead to believe the entire event was at a hotel and then it turns out they have to drive to a school for day 2.

no question whatever we do it will be at the same place all weekend. I'm gonna try and call a couple hotels by the moa to price check.

pricing hotel conference rooms. Puts us at about $150/day for the room. Having the wife call Rosemount vfw now to check price there. I assume most of the players will be locals so hotel is not a huge priority and reduced cost is.

Thinking about Friday event if kids are still in school not much call for Friday afternoon event. Friday night sounds like peeps want to see twins. Do we even want to try and schedule event for Friday?

Also if we are doing this in Rosemount I call a spot on bradys floor to crach Saturday night to save me 2 hrs of drive time ;)

Doesn't seem too bad. If a few of us chip in maybe we could cover it?

Hmmm... I suppose we could make the investment... and then pay ourselves back if we get over a certain number. Yeah, I'd chip in $30-$50 to cover the two days if we could get a few others to do the same...

I told Garrett this via PM but I may as well post it here- it seems likely the PC would be able to assist with that sort of cost.

jUst FYI the vfw is $30/day. $150 deposit.

I like this option if we aren't gonna have a lot of travelers.

I would've committed already if I could find a flight that was < $500

Yeah, I'm hoping we're just too far out to have sales on flights during that time yet.

$370. I didn't use PriceLine or anything though so I'm sure you can find even cheaper

Yeah, I'm hoping for a Southwest sale and/or a free voucher from them for flying a lot. If not that $370 price is probably what I'll end up with.

Just for giggles I started checking flights since I am going to Florida later this year and was previously thinking about the MPC. ANYWAY I changed all of my flights to first class and I had no idea that the prices MORE THAN doubled... I guess i thought first class got cheaper over the years...
Thanks!

My sweet summer child.

The difference is even more pronounced internationally. A cheap ticket to Europe in economy might cost you $1K if you're lucky. In business you're looking at between $5-7K, and in first (on airlines that offer first) it'll be $10K+.
