For the first time in 10 years the European Championship will not be in Bochum, Germany!!!
This is the result of dozens of e-mails between the UK directors and your trusty Euro Emperor.
The decision did not come easy, and there are some conditions involved, which were negotiated between Paul and me. I leave it up to Paul to make those conditions official or not.

The European Championship will definitely be in the United Kingdom though. The time is now or never with the World Championship being in Bochum in 2012. We hope to use the momentum to also have a very positive attendance in the UK. Paul and Darren will be able to give Europeans the proper attention, while we prepare for Euro Worlds.

If you want to help make the Europeans 2012 a success, then please…
- Attend the UK regional on 26 May 2012
- Attend Europeans on 11 August 2012
- And attend any non-UK tournaments if you are from the UK

The goal is to see you Brits over here!! Spread the word and make it happen, mates!

You are not the only one finding it dreadful, but this year we want to give all the pro-summer voters a chance to make it to Europeans.

The European community is divided. Some prefer the summer, because that is the only time they get off from work, school, etc. Others hate it, because they already have vacation plans with their families, etc. There is no right or wrong here, but many guys could not make the June or September dates in the past. So, this is the chance for all pro-summer players to support such a date in the future by showing up at Europeans 2012!!!

I just booked a flight, rental car and hotel for Angelo and me.

I'm a swccg player form Sweden planning to come to this event. But I'm having some problems planning my trip, as to which airport to fly to and where to stay during the tournament. Any advice on as cheap accomodation/travel as possible, since I'm a student, would be greatly appriciated!

Gunnar! Nice to see you back on the wagon! You can fly to london and take the train (just buy train tickets in advance!!!!) or try and get a flight to birmingham... or better yet, contact Paul/Darren... they know what to do, and are awesome gentlemen!

Dunno yet. For me, I'm currently not sure where I will fly 'from' (Jutland Wastes or Copenhagen), so that kinda veers in on my travel route. We haven't really discussed the trip yet among ourselves, but we prolly should soon, as it is a little more planning that jumpin' a car for Bochum.

I just wanted to post to let you all know that I'm all over this like hair on a wookiee. After TMW this weekend I'll be aking the PC to create a "Upcoming Major Events" forum for this so that I can seperate out all of the information rather than having it all in one topic.

In the meantime the following information maybe useful:

Flights - try to fly in to either (Nottingham) East Midlands (EMA) or Birmingham International (BHX). I am happy to pick up/drop off from/to either airport on a first come first served basis - just PM me with your flight details and I'll see what I can do. If you fly in to any other airport and need assistance with transfers to Leicester then again PM me - put take Casper's advice - train tickets tht are not purchased a long way in advance are very expensive in the UK!!!

Accomodation - there is a hotel just around the corner from the tournament venue that usually has twin rooms for £29 per night - however I have just been on to their website and was told that they have no rooms available. I find this VERY hard to believe as there is really no reason to stay at this hotel!!! I wil visit them tomorrow and try to find out what is going on.

p.s. I believe that the Olympic closing ceremony is on the day of the tournament so if you're considering visiting London and you can be flexible about your dates then the week after the tournament may be better than the week before.

I paid a visit to the hotel on Thursday and they confirmed that they currently have 51 rooms available for the Friday and Saturday nights and that they would contact their Head Office to sought out the website. Checking on their website this morning (http://www.premierinn.com) an en-suite twin room for the two nights at the Leicester (Braunstone) hotel would cost £78 (i.e. £19.50 per person per night). My advice would be to not book this just yet as they often have £29 sales on which would bring the cost down to £58.

For anyone flying into London there are bus tickets between London and Leicester for £1 each way on www.megabus.com as long as you book in advance - if you leave your travel plans until the last minute then trains will cost £50+ each way (as Morten and Casper discovered last year )!!!

That's right Casper £1 (one pound)!!! And since it takes twice as long (two hours) as the train it's 100x the value
