Day 2 Results

Post by maxbeedo »

1. Nick Reisch vs. 8. Bobby Hilbun
Game 1: Bobby LS vs. Nick DS, Bobby TW +11
Game 2: Bobby DS vs. Nick LS, Bobby TW +1
Bobby Advances

2. Aaron Nelson vs. 7. Steve Baroni
Game 1: Steve LS vs. Aaron DS, Steve FW +24
Game 2: Steve DS vs. Aaron LS, Aaron FW +24
Steve advances on Lost Pile count

3. Robbie Hendon vs. 6. Michael Richards
Game 1: Robbie LS vs. Richards DS, Richards TW +1
Game 2: Robbie DS vs. Richards LS, Robbie FW +20-ish
Robbie Advances

4. Matt Schmaltz vs. 5. Greg Shaw
Game 1: Greg LS vs. Matt DS, Greg FW +14
Game 2: Greg DS vs. Matt LS, Greg FW +(something)
Greg advances

Semi-finals
5. Greg Shaw vs. 8. Bobby Hilbun
Game 1: Greg LS vs. Bobby DS, Shaw FW +31
Game 2: Greg DS vs. Bobby LS, Shaw FW +20-ish

3. Robbie Hendon vs. 7. Steve Baroni
Game 1: Robbie LS vs. Steve DS, Steve FW +22
Game 2: Robbie DS vs. Steve LS, Steve FW (Robbie got down pretty low and knew he couldn't win by more than 22 so he conceded)

No finals were played as Baroni conceded the championship to Shaw.

Payouts ($35 entry):
1st $280
2nd $140
3rd-4th $70
5th-8th $35

A very important question I completely forgot to ask was regarding the byes. If Greg and Steve don't already have byes, they do now, otherwise they would pass down to Robbie and then Bobby.

I believe Baroni has bye from MPC. I don't know about Shaw. Was this a 2 bye event?

There was some really good deck diversity on Day 2, it was fun seeing the choices people made.

HD non-v and v, WYS fakeout, Chewmuning, TIGIH, Spice Ties, Chu-muning, LSC, WHAP, ASM, was nick playing wookiees?

I was thinking the same thing.... Also, Herold said things got loud. I want to know what the "play of the game" was... And did anyone take off their shirt (besides Blake to show off his scar) because of it?

Oooo! That would have been quite dramatic! I could see why one would be a bit perturbed by a miscount....

Hey Jeeps, I realize you and some others are just legitimately curious and love this kind of gossip but I really don't see what good would comes out of posting any of this stuff online. I'm a little dissapointed that it was brought up in the first place as neither Steve nor myself felt it necessary to post about it and Hayes' account is wrong which only further makes me roll my eyes. Regardless of who said/did what, carrying this stuff over to the forums just opens the door for side-choosing and hurt feelings...neither of which reflects well on our game or encourages participation in future events.

Steve and I talked it out in Texas and when we parted ways, we both manned-up, shook hands and forgave one another for any wrongs committed. I enjoyed hanging out with him all weekend and hope to see him at lots more Swccg events. I'd wager he feels the same way. Let's focus this discussion on strategy, congratulating Greg, talking about deck and card choices and all the fun everyone had this past weekend.

Actually, I was illegitimately curious and only wanted to hear one (or both) of you guys toss dirt on the other one and call the other a "man-gina". Not sure all of this manning up stuff really sated my interests... *sigh*... looks like I will just have to go start another SWCCG Proxy Thread...

In all seriousness, I would love to know about the two games you guys played... the victories and mistakes that were made... the reading the strategy of those two games would be pretty epic...

just go to events and you will be there to see the play of the game!

i was bummed i couldnt make it to texas this year, money and time off work issues left me unable to go, but i do go to several of these events each year and they are worth it everytime! then you get to see the fun stuff instead of dry humping for deets later

I defeated you (standard) & Baroni, who defeated everybody else. I also got a bullseye in darts on my 1st throw, therefore I'm the 2013 TMW sports champion :epic:
