I was surprised by this myself. It was on my to-do list but then I got sick.

Congrats to both Kevin and Matt on making the Finals, and Greg and Steve for making the Final Four.

I would also like to extend special congrats to Kevin for winning his 11th major tournament since 2008. For those not keeping score at home, the person with the 2nd most wins in the last 6 years has 3, and he's currently not active.

Is this true? Is there a scoreboard somewhere?

you're certainly in the lead but I question gogolen's definition of a major event. You have won two mpcs, two worlds and the continentals thing... the tmw and socal things dont seem like majors to me... I went to a few and the reason i stopped going is they felt like local tournaments from like 1998.

But yeah in terms of a score board you're at 5 using my definition and I think there's prolly a bunch of us at 2.

Guessing you're not counting Europeans as a major?

If you count San Diego and Texas Mini Worlds then Europeans would be a major event, too.

MPC and Worlds are even another level with 40-60 players. I can see that point of view.

Personally, I would count all events with 20-25 players or more. Just my 2 cents.

I haven't been keeping score on those, my apologies. Suffice it to say with those counted (as they probably should be) you would in 2nd place :)

That was just my opinion. Imho 20 players is a "big" event these days.

If it gets its own forum heading, offers a cash prize, and gets people to get on a plane to travel and play in the event, then I would consider that a Major event.

There are currently 6 of those per year:

MPC
Texas MW
US Nationals
Europeans
Worlds
San Diego GP

Going back and adding the European events in, Emil has 3 victories and would be tied for 2nd.

the only ones not on chris' list are the JPB tournament and german/netherlands nationals (equivalent to a US regionals, even with 20+ players, shouldn't count as a major, like minnesota regionals doesn't)
