Collecting Sealed Product

Post by J-Rod »

For those of you who are attempting to collect the sealed product that is left out there, are you collecting sealed packs, boxes, etc?

Obviously the more cost-effective method would be to collect 1 sealed pack from each set.

If you see this as more of an investment opportunity, then collecting sealed boxes would be the way to go.

So which are you doing, and why?

While I couldn't keep unopened packs and boxes around me without tearing into them, I think it would be cool to gather up some sealed decks. They aren't too expensive, they have a lot of cards, and don't offer many rares so there's not much temptation to crack them open. That being said, I would likely open them after a week or so. :D

I couldn't hold on to sealed product if my life depended on it. I just love the surprise of opening.

Yeah, as cool as it would be to own sealed boxes, I would have to open them up. Unless it was something like Jabba's Palace where I many complete sets. But it would still be hard to not open that box!

From what I gather from most collectors is that they want a pack and a box of everything and they keep it sealed. On top of that the box must be in good shape too, not like some of the boxes you find that have been shipped way too many times.

I tried stunning leader on my wife, but her ability was too low, and she was not amused. I think maybe she is more of a creature then a character, will write back with further details.

yeah, I tore through 2 boxes of Jabba's Palace today, and completed the set with 1 pack left to spare. So I'll be keeping a sealed pack of JP.

I will probably try and collect 1 sealed pack from each set.

I have been collecting boxes for over a year now, from almost every set. I collect to share the packs with my friends. We have a group of about 10 people who are at various stages in their collecting, from having near complete collections, to barely any cards at all.

Its for this reason I've been avidly collecting other sets. We do Draft tournaments with them. We do this for a number of reasons:

-because it's a great way for the newbies to collect

-everyone getting practice constructing a deck

-it gives fresh perspective on cards you thought were useless

-Everyone loves opening a pack and pulling a huge rare

Recently we've wanted to do an episode I draft. I've successfully procured a box of coruscant, 3.5 boxes of theed, and am now looking to purchase some reflections III and tatooine. I'd like to get another box of coruscant. can anyone help me on this?

Stupid Hoth, has to go and make itself all Rare for no good reason, haha.

WB Hoth is easier to find than BB but I don't have a connection with it off hand. eBay is your best bet and I know I saw 2 of them on in August on there but haven't really noticed one on there since then.

I'll sniff around and see if I can find one though.

Cool, thanks. I'll keep checking ebay as well, but yeah haven't really seen too much on there.

Japanese Hoth would be more interesting for me, followed by Japanese premiere.

Japanese Hoth is the hardest Japanese product to get. Decipher put a lot of Hoth Japanese in Ref 2 or Ref 3 packs (can't remember which one) but you got one card in each pack that was Japanese Hoth, while I don't believe any Prem/ANH was ever put in them, meaning that Decipher probably opened a lot of the Hoth cards while the Premiere and ANH was actually selling to retailers in Japan at that time and Decipher bought a lot of the Hoth expansion to put into Ref2 or 3.

I've had boxes and packs of both Premiere and ANH Japanese but have never had any Hoth. I have a full set of it from Kendrick Summers who worked for Decipher back then, then left and now works for them again. I have a lot of extras but that's from the boxes of Ref2/3 I opened and got from it. Getting Rares was, well, Rare in that those Ref packs since you only got 1 Japanese card a pack. So if you figure those odds you would get 2 Japanese Rares in a full box of the Reflections product.

That is good, and my guess is that Hoth box will go for over 150 if it's BB
