PC Store Maintenance?

Post by Jctrevor »

New here so sorry if this is posted somewhere else but I noticed the PC store was down for maintenance. There’s a few posts for past forum/PC Store planned maintenance schedules though I didn’t see one for this week.

I understand the store is a volunteer effort, and in the best of times it probably is far more work than I can image let alone in our current environment. I just was curious if there was a schedule for it to be back up and if there was any expected issues with in process orders.

Thanks!

-Trevor

OK, so here is the longer version of what's been going on with the store.

Rewind to last week- been behind on inventory updating for a couple months, and we finally carve out a large block of time to address that. Spent a few hours Friday night updating a couple of sets, which prompts a handful of orders to come in on Saturday morning.

Spent another few hours on Saturday updating inventory. In the middle of that, there is a glitch in the PC store which removes decimal points from a lot of pricing. So cards that should be 0.25 are now $25. Have to put inventory on hold to manually adjust pricing for over 800 different cards. Not difficult, just very tedious and time consuming.

More orders come in now Saturday night.

Sunday I start doing inventory again for some other sets and finally call it a night so I can enjoy the last couple hours of my weekend. A software update gets run on the PC store, which unintentionally reverts some of our settings to the default settings. Inventory management is not a default setting, so that gets turned off.

This makes it seem like we have every card in stock in the store with unlimited quantities...and basically undoes about 12 hours of work.

Start getting a lot of orders on Sunday night, for cards that we don't have, and for sets that I didnt update inventory for yet. I get messages from a few people, as well as start seeing some very large orders pouring into my email, and reach out to the web team to shut the store down. We fix the programming issue, but before we can turn the store back on there are a few things that need to happen-

1) Go through the 20 orders that came in over the weekend, confirm that the cards are available and manually refund people for things they purchased that we dont have. Then package and ship out all the orders that we have cards to fulfill.

2) Re-inventory the entire store and make sure the website matches the quantity of cards we actually have available for sale, and that the pricing is correct.

3) Turn the store back on and get ready for the next deluge of orders to come in.

Step 1 has been completed this morning- I worked on it bit by bit after work this week, and got all of the orders completed as of this morning. Now I am moving on to Step 2, which I hope to have finished this weekend so we can turn the store back on by Monday.

Good thing this is a 3-day weekend

Man, that's frustrating.

Sorry you have to deal with that, and thanks for your hard work Chris.

Wow I had expected there was some type of inventory issue but would never have guessed the level of the problem. Thanks for the update and crazy amount of effort to restore the system!

Is there a way to filter by only what's in stock, as opposed to seeing every listing with a "Read More" button by it?
