It would! I have no clue though. There was some streaming/video'ing last year but I don't know if we have people knowledgable about this kind of stuff and with the equipment to set it up. Would be totally awesome though, with some featured live streams during day 2 and 3.

During the Final Confrontation last year people kept thinking that the stream had frozen - but that was just the speed that Emil and Casper were playing at

Well, I remember at Euro Worlds some years ago I did manage to register some videos and post them later.

The main issue for "live streaming" is the internet connection.
Where we are iirc there is no public wifi and I don't think the owner's internet connection is up to be "used".
Can it be asked ?
Even if they make us "pay" for it, I think it'd be worthwhile and can "donate" some cash for that.
But their net connection has to be good enough to permit the livestream.

I have a MacAir which is very light (to carry( that I can bring for that, in case. Be it livestream or just "recording" and "uploading" a day later.
Remember however that livestream might be cool, but there is a time difference (6-7 hours IIRC) so it means waking up quite early for the start of top8.

Similar to the only reason why American football in London is a good idea, I would love to roll out of bed and find some SWCCG on the tube :-D

For it to be good, we also need some solid way to record top-down on the table.

Indeed.
How they did it at Worlds ?
The quality wasn't great even in HQ so I'm not sure.

I could test at my place with my webcam, and a bigger usb cable, to see the result.
I have a normal video cam, too, but I'm not sure I can attach it to the computer to register (but we'd get better video) with Quicktime or something similar.

I believe there really is not direct internet connection at the two main rooms.
They probably would not charge extra for anything. They're happy to have us.
Last year they even offered some people to sleep at the venue (mostly because they party till 6 am and are back at 10 am or so, but it's a nice gesture).

@ Angelo,
can you check when you're there on Monday, if Sven could provide us internet somehow?

Recording the games and posting later is an excellent alternative to streaming

Sorry, we asked, but the local connection is so bad that we cannot run a livestream.

If any-one thinks they can bring a notebook with an independent internet connection to provide livestream, we would be happy to use it.

See this thread:
/viewt ... =2&t=59128

I really liked the podcasts that were done by Kevin and Joe, I thought maybe we could do something like this instead of live streaming. We could do some interviews with the top x, maybe talk about interesting decks/matches/things that happened, for the people who counld't come and the us folks for a sense of the atmosphere. And the 'singing vikings' can finally get their international breakthrough with this.
Any other suggestions?

I want to try to get this going, but problems now are:
-I have never done a podcast before, so not sure what I need. Will we use a smartphone, or sit at a laptop somewhere separate? need a microphone for better recordings? Last thing I want is devote time in this to find out the quality sucks. (And that we have 10hrs of recordings of drunken people talking about their cat.)
-I'm not that good at doing interviews and stuff, but its better than nothing I guess. Any help welcome.
-Time: this will have to happen between rounds and before/after the tournament, but as I will be also playing, it will be though. as I probably won't be in top x, that will be easier.

Ah I get it.

I did some interviews myself at Euro Worlds, with Americans coming there. :)
We can do the same this year too (at least with Joe), and also with some EC players.
Maybe my girlfriend can help too (she'll be there) in doing a bit of work, but I didn't ask her yet, and maybe she will be out sightseeing.

As for quality, the webcam I have and microphone proved to be good last time, and we can do some tests directly on site anyway.
I'll bring an external hard disk in case we need more storage space.

This is what I think we should do:

A) serious stuff:

1) Day 2 wrap-up: short interview with the top 8. Questions should be:
- what was your most difficult game today ? why ?
- what were you playing ?
- was there a deck idea that you faced that you found great and didn't expect ?

2) Day 2 results and analysis (by the TD, or by a player not playing in Day 3), aka "Road to Day 3):
What were the top 8, what they played, who they lost again.
Going player by player, seeing what they did and what happened (talk to them to get the info)

3) Day 2 feature matches. (just record the matches, then we can make a commentary on those later on)
Just to be sure, we could try to record a match on thursday evening to see if it's doable.

1a) Day 3 wrap-up. longer interview with the top 8. Questions should be:
- tell us a bit about the games you had. What went wrong/what were the key to winning, etc.
- tell us a bit about your deck choices today. If you changed decks, why ?
- what do you loved about the tournament ?
- etc.

2) Day 3 results and analysis (by the TD, or by another player.
What what they played, who they lost again.
Going player by player, seeing what they did and what happened (talk to them to get the info)

3) Day 3 feature matches.

B) fun stuff:
- Drinking and Food challenge: every day, we make a list of the top 3 drinkers/eaters at the pub and add it as a "fun fact" in the daily podcast. We'll make a funny picture of every player, so that in the podcast video we can add them for more "fun" factor.
- make some game challenges. Like on the team tournament, "give a Jar Jar Binks to the game moment who was the funniest", or stuff like that. Sure, it means handing cards, but they don't have to be rare always.
- any other ideas ?
