Decks

Post by marines28 »

Could someone start going over the decks at the event, please?

All I saw was an ISB and a RST.

BHBM with Sith Fury, Dark Deal with Bow are some of the new ones from KTOD.

Drop n Drain IE-v from Tom Kelly and friends (Steve, Krypto, maybe Tom Haid - not sure about the credits)

It's not drop and drain at all :) but that's not the point.
I wasn't involved at all and the most credit goes to Stephen Celucci, Jonh Michael and Steve Skiltoni.

Edit to this, Angelo played Entanglements & WHAP Space on Day I, not Watto.

Ryan played diplo and entanglements day one. Diplo day two, not old allies.

At first glance that seems like a ton of variety from a good number of top players (many that collaborate with each other). A lot of atypical decks, too.

Is that a product of the current post reset meta (card pool driven)?
The MPC format (read: play something oddball)?
Or has the community become so 'casual' that the meta has become so loose that one can get away with playing whatever suits their fancy?

I think we're beginning to see the effect of concentrated design efforts to diversify deck options, while still adhering strongly to the design rules, so option A would be my pick. There are a lot of options with similar power level right now, IMO, and this means that there is a lot of unexplored territory. This also gives more room for RPS, but the best players are still able to consistently dominate so it seems like deck construction and game planning is winning the day. Overall it seems like a super fun meta to play in, and both skill and preparation are seeing returns on their investments. Honestly, as someone who doesn't get to play actual games very often, it's a little discouraging because it's so hard to even catch up to the meta, much less get ahead. But that's not a bad thing, it just means I need to think harder, build better decks, play better cards, etc. (Copyright Reidtech, I believe).

I think for the first time in a while there is no 1-2 "best decks" DS had ie and tto as it's two best decks for a long time, (year+) and I think there are other decks that are just as good now (HD, isb, deal, etc).

Light has been wide open for a while, whap being strogest- but the newer good dark decks are also better against whap so light side has also been flattened out.

Game is healthy now, the KToD recently acquired a very large collection and one thing we thought about doing was making every viable deck.. I think we had a list of like 17 decks total which was really cool.

Yeah, a couple DS decks have climbed the tier ladder a bit (BHBH, HD, Court, Scum in versions, First Order decks be it deal Court whatever) forcing LS to adapt as well. Feels healthy.

I've had between 20 and 30 decks built at all times since returning to the game. Make playtesting so much better.

To me, it felt that DS had the recent deck movement/strengthening, and LS was more refining what they had in their arsenal. The BHBM helpers are an example.... its really cool that it can be a natural predator to Jedi Luke heavy decks.
