Most Controversial Star Wars Opinions
I saw a thread on twitter the other day and have been thinking about it a lot. I figured out what my most controversial Star Wars opinion is and am curious what yours are. When posting in this thread, please don't criticize others opinions, as it will water down the crazy responses I'm hoping to see. Also, I'd encourage you all to boil it down to one opinion that's craziest, but feel free to add additional opinions too.
So here's mine:
Alden Ehrenreich is a better Han Solo than Harrison Ford.

Episodes 8 and 9 are both top 5 Star Wars movies.
(The rest, in no particular order are Episodes 4, 5, and Rogue One.. Ep 6 is 6th).

Re: Most Controversial Star Wars Opinions
Boba Fett is the most overrated character in the franchise. He did pretty much nothing with his on-screen time, except get a neat line directed at him about disintegrations, follow Han to Bespin, and then get knocked into the Sarlacc pit like a comic-relief extra.
But because he wore cool armor and didn't say much, fans let their imagination run wild, and the EU turned him into a Mary Stu long before Rey ever showed up. Escaping the Sarlacc, defeating Vader in 1v1 lightsaber combat, and a bunch of other stupid * that thank god isn't any kind of canon anymore.
I'm praying Disney won't bring him back, although I'm not holding my breath. Just let Fett stay dead, and let the new Mandalorian be the badass we all thought Boba was.

Kind of agree with the Fett one.
top 3 SW movies
6,3,9
(my full movie rank got Ep2 on the bottom, but the rest is very uncommon)

All of these opinions so far are absurd (Fett in the least bit so)..
Mine would be that the prequels > 7,8,9 but I’m not sure that’s all that controversial anymore.

Re: Most Controversial Star Wars Opinions
Great topic!
The sequel trilogy we got is actually a parallel universe that branched out on Endor in Return of the Jedi when Leia tells luke to run far away and instead of confronting Vader and the Emperor, he does just that -- runs away. It is not a continuation of the story where Luke sees the good in Vader, and Vader kills the Emperor, although the Rebels do still succeed in blowing up the second Death Star (because Luke didn't help with that anyway), except this time Emperor didn't stick around because there was no need to -- Luke never showed up.

Re: Most Controversial Star Wars Opinions
I have been skimming the articles about some youtuber who apparently had a bunch of Ep 9 spoilers saying disney is in a battle over time travel or something or the force or whatever wiping out the sequel trilogy like happened in Rebels or whatever and by extension Kathleen Kennedy's Reign of Terrible and also therefore the Brie Larson/Rian Johnson desecration adaptation of KOTOR so that would be interesting.quickdraw3457 wrote: ↑July 13th, 2020, 8:00 amThe sequel trilogy we got is actually a parallel universe that branched out on Endor in Return of the Jedi when Leia tells luke to run far away and instead of confronting Vader and the Emperor, he does just that -- runs away. Anyways as soon as I saw parallel universe that's what I thought of. It's a lot of fun but feels more ST than SW. I'm not saying they should do it but it would be hilarious if they came out and said the sequel trilogy was actually just the Infinities in film form.

Re: Most Controversial Star Wars Opinions
I'm definitely not a fan of the time travel/parallel universe stuff in SW. That was my least favorite part about SW: Rebels (the world between worlds). Just opens things up way too much, and that is saying something considering SW is already wide open as far as possibilities.AdmiralMotti89 wrote: ↑July 13th, 2020, 9:16 amAnyways as soon as I saw parallel universe that's what I thought of. That said, this is still more acceptable to me than the sequels being normal, and for that reason I chose to hold this controversial star wars opinion.
Re: Most Controversial Star Wars Opinions
Surprised Joe didn't put "We need another reset" as one of his...
Mine is Star Wars movies are going to need a reset. The franchise's main story line is dead and buried. It is awful.

Re: Most Controversial Star Wars Opinions
The middle of ESB is boring.
Flipping back and forth between two main stories is an automatic penalty from me.
The Luke/Dagobah stuff is only interesting if you've never seen it before.
The asteroid stuff and hiding in the garbage and fixing random things inside the Falcon is also totally boring.
The Hoth and Cloud City portions of the movie are so good that it's still my second favorite.

The two Ewok movies are very enjoyable. Every Star Wars movie should have been narrated by Burl Ives.
Re: Most Controversial Star Wars Opinions
The Phantom Menace is a great movie. Like top 5. Remove Jar Jar and it might be top 3.

Episode I is the 3rd best star wars film, after Empire Strikes Back and Rogue One, you didnt need to add the bit about Jar Jar, Jar Jar is a FANTASTIC character, who if he had his own show i would watch it every week.
