Team Stephenville!!!

Oh, yeah! Congradulations to Meeker! I didn't see the second game but if it was as good as the first then man I wish I would've stayed.

Congrats to Nate Meeker!
Brandon, maybe you should test your decks before going to worlds...

Heh, that and/or play a deck without multiple autoloss matchups. Oops?

That does make me remember that I nearly made Steven Lewis play HB Slug tech Day 3. :D
He would have lost all his games with it considering the match-ups. :D

Or better yet, just ban DDM from playing creatures.

So what was done to prevent the game/differential manipulation everyone worried about? Did it work? Was this an issue at all?

They sat down and randomly watched games. The fact that so few people were associated with one another in Day 3 really made it pointless. Hopefully we can return to Match Play next year...

And to think, Meeker beat Steven in game 1 because he top decked his Audience Chamber turn 2. No way to pull Jabba, and no way to set up the AC with Scum and battling made for an easy win against an Obi Start deck.

If played again, it would have been very very different.

Its kind of like Reid's deck not pulling a Jedi out of 14 when Drew beat Endor Mains with Huntdown last year game 1 (a matchup that should never have happened with the broken pre redux Endor Effects)

Fate is a big thing with this game.

Congrats Meeker, your LS deck sounds amazing.

heh, it would have been far from an autowin for him. But it would have made it a game. Topdecking the AC pretty much put him into damage control mode from turn 1, which was unlucky, but thats what the Obi deck does.

Of the 7 games that i played with it, 3 found the DS top decking something important because of the fast pressure damage the deck can put from turn 1. Lewis top decked the AC, Fred top decked his Elis and scum got top decked in one of my games during day 2.

There was no way for him to pull the AC w/o a lot of work on his part, it was blocked by Obiwan being on Jabba's Palace, and the Desert site that AITC gets to start, both of which were split by 2 additional sites so there was no way to drop characters to both and combine them to get away from the beatdown.

It would have been interesting to see what would have happened had he not topdecked it though.

But yeah, the game is partially about luck.

Always nervous about an Obi-start, AitC and/or Profit, I stick Jabba's Sail Barge (V) in every Scum/MKOS deck. Doesn't solve the problem of the drain, but at least I can get things rolling without the AC.
