I've done some with small groups of friends (< 5) and it works fine....but a dozen+ co-workers where only one person can speak at a time? That's not happy hour, it's just a meeting without an agenda where you can drink a beer. No thanks.

agree on the small group of friends being fun. team5 did one a few weeks ago, and i enjoyed it
work ones sound awkward af, and you run the risk of the not a team player label if you decline.

Yeah, it doesn't help that I am 1000 miles away from all my co-workers, so their small talk about local events and the weather was kind of lost on mearebelspy wrote: ↑February 19th, 2021, 1:22 pmprobably depends who you're with. The Franchise wrote: ↑February 19th, 2021, 1:19 pmYeah the one I attended was awkward and I will likely not participate if there is anotherrsersen wrote: ↑February 19th, 2021, 1:02 pm"Let's do a zoom happy hour!"shawnd1984 wrote: ↑February 19th, 2021, 10:25 amVirtual events that simply don't work. Agree these work best with a small group.

I wouldn't do one if the person were requesting were dying of chronic illness at this point. But that's just me.

Using homonyms to fulfill a rhyme.
Example from a children's song:
"the sailor went to sea, sea, sea,
To see what he could see, see, see."

I've never viewed those as rhymes, but practicing homophones.

Rule of thumb on Zoom Happy Hours: don’t do a Zoom Happy Hour with people you wouldn’t do an in person happy hour with. I would not do happy hour with anyone I currently work with.

The mayor of New York has a fake name? Apparently Bill de Blasio's real name is William Wilhelm Jr. What a douchetastic move for a politician. Automatically disqualifying.

I guess my first question is should anyone be allowed to legally change their name? Should we exclude everybody from doing so or just politicians?shawnd1984 wrote: ↑February 23rd, 2021, 9:48 amThe mayor of New York has a fake name? Nah, you need a reason such as "my name is attached to a traumatic past". De Blasio's reason doesn't appear to make the cut.Gergall wrote: ↑February 23rd, 2021, 11:42 amI guess my first question is should anyone be allowed to legally change their name? Here's another good example of a justified name change:
Issur Danielovitch......is Kirk Douglas. You can change your name when you fight in a World War.

I really hate it when it strikes me that I need to make poo immediately after getting out of the shower. 1) There's no way you're 100% clean afterwards no matter how well you wipe, and (more irritatingly) 2) you're never completely dry coming out of the shower so the TP shreds and sticks to you. Why can't insides cooperate and realize you're about to get in the shower and now is the ideal time to go?!

The microwave talk in the other thread reminded me:
I HATE HATE HATE microwaves that start cooking as soon as you hit a number. I wanted twenty seconds, not two minutes you ******* thing! Now I have to sit and watch you spin so I don't forget and ruin my food.

joe would just leave it there
Re: Old Men Yell At Clouds (Formerly: Irrational Pet Peeves)
Or just hold it? Or if a real emergency, get out of the shower?
IDK, I've literally never been in that situation, but I can't imagine choosing either of those two options over the ones I said.
It seems like a real false dilemma for a situation that never occurs.
