Event Details- April 17th - 24th 2020
Good news!! THE MPC WILL TAKE PLACE THIS YEAR!
It will just be played on GEMP instead. Here are the details:
Online MPC format - $25 per person entry fee
Prizes are the same as live MPC :
1st - $600
2nd- $300
3rd- $150
4th- $150
5th-8th - $50
Trophies for the Top 4 to be mailed or handed out at a future event. I will confirm that the standard foil slips will also be available to all participants (highly likely).
Decklists for Weekend 1 to be submitted by Friday April 17th @ 11:59pm EST via email- decklists@starwarsccg.org
Tournament Format
Saturday April 18th
Round 1 – 64 players
Wave 1 – starts @ 9am Eastern- 16 games scheduled (1st half of round 1) estimate 4 hours to complete
Wave 2- starts @ 1pm Eastern - 16 games scheduled (2nd half of round 1) estimate 4 hours to complete
Short break to ensure that all games are finished and players from Wave 2 have time to recuperate
Round 2- 32 players
starts @ 6pm Eastern - 16 games – estimate 4 hours to complete
Day 1 ends around 10pm Eastern
Sunday April 19th- Same decks are yesterday
Round 3- 16 players
Starts @ 10am Eastern – 8 games, est 4 hours to complete
Short break period
Round 4 – 8 players
Start at 2:30pm Eastern – 4 games- est 4 hours to complete
Day 2 ends around 6:30pm Eastern
Day #3 – players are allowed to change decks for the Final 4
Saturday April 25th
TBD
Final 4 start time will be determined based on what makes sense for the players involved. With the event being online, we could have West Coast USA vs Europe so this can be flexible. Ideally it would be on the weekend to maximize Twitch viewership.
Streaming coverage will be ongoing throughout the event. As one match ends, the streamers can find another active table to switch over to. I expect that as players are eliminated from the event several will be interested in jumping in on Commentary.

And thanks to Wirfs for being flexible with EGP again. We will get things planned out much further in advance for 2021.

I don’t know for sure but on general the EC is always the same weekend in September (the one we had euro worlds in this year). So you can keep that in mind if you want to fly over again! Which would be great fun

No exact dates yet but since the hotel for this event could only give us the April date, you can assume that EGP will be in January some time.

you guys know the point he's trying to make. like half the people had to stay at a different hotel last year. is that going to be the case again?

That's because the hotel booked up. That could happen, sure.darkjediknight11 wrote: ↑September 30th, 2019, 10:36 amyou guys know the point he's trying to make. like half the people had to stay at a different hotel last year. is that going to be the case again?
The hotel, and date, is announced now. 6+ months early. I'm betting they aren't booked.
So if you book early, you can stay in the same hotel. Likely if you wait until last minute, you'll have to stay at a different hotel.
I don't think Gogolen can guarantee there will be rooms all the way up to the day of the event, but he can guarantee there are rooms available now, and likely for months to come.

I've been to every one of these and last year was the only time there weren't rooms available. it wasn't waiting "until last minute". hotel was booked up 2 months before. Well before the time period I usually book my room.

A block of rooms is always reserved, however the hotel reserves the right to change that if necessary.
If we have a bunch of rooms just sitting out there unfilled, and another group has hit their limit and needs more, the hotel can pull a few from our block to accommodate them. That's just how the hotel business works. Their goal is to be as full each night as they can.
We have 20 double rooms assigned to our block for Friday and Saturday, and 10 for Sunday. Once we have the booking link, I will post that and I suggest people who know they will attend (like people who have been to every MPC) book now instead of waiting until February and possibly missing out and having to walk 3 blocks instead.

I just want my custom foil beer wars card. I don’t care which hotel I have to stay at to get it.

I think there are a couple for Thursday too, but those are likely easier to add more if necessary

Re: Event Details- April 17th- 19th 2020
Looking at flights from Orlando to Newark, the weekend of the 18th has the most expensive flights.
The weekend after is like half the cost. Most other weekends are at like 1/3th the cost.
Maybe it will come down as it gets a bit closer.
