June 2020 OCS Stats

Post by Echo Base Trooper »

There were 352 OCS games in June. There were 2 games I know of that timed out before starting cards were revealed. I have the matchup data for 342 of the games. Based on these games I have put together some stats for the month of June. Hopefully this can be collected directly from GEMP in the future instead of relying on someone manually tracking everything.

Is the dark side stronger? (wins by side):

Amazing work as ever Adam!
English National Runner-up - 2019
OCS 2019 (19-65)
Official First Round Loser - MPC 2020

I’m not saying I'm aiming to be the worst player in the history of SW:CCG. But someone has to be...right?

It's much more exciting to me when you get a group of people who are coming up to you.....really really excited about it. And then there are other people who walk out literally saying that was the worst movie I've ever seen. Having those two extremes to me is the mark of the type of movie that I want to make.

I really haven't been paying much attention to the OCS forum this year and I'm just discovering these stat posts now. First, this is amazing. Second, No Idea won 79% of its games and all other LS decks combined to only win 46%? Am I reading that right?

Yes, you are reading that right, No Idea won 79% of its games, though the rest of the LS decks combined to win 48%, not 46%.

And in May NI had a 48% win rate, so that is far from conclusive.

I'm more interested in WHO played NI. Like if Hayes and Eric played 6 games and won all 6 with it, that will obviously skew the data.

More worried about the 93 ISB games (although it's just above 50% win rate).

Right, one month of a deck doing well could easily just be variance.

Who played against it is important too. If No Idea frequently wins against people that usually lose anyway it doesn't mean the deck is overpowered.

I have been doing some things to account for player strength (this is not based on the ratings I posted about recently, but is based on win percentage in OCS games this year with some adjustments) and I've estimated how many times a deck "should" win ignoring the matchup and just using my estimations of player strength.

This is No Idea in June:

This is all of LS in June:

This is No Idea in April, May, and June:

Just from looking at this, No Idea definitely overperformed in June, but it had underperformed in April and May.
